When we heard that Emma, who's played adorable witch Hermione Granger in all the 'Harry Potter' films, might not return after 'Order of the Phoenix,' we were crushed. But once we got done sobbing, we couldn't help speculating who might be cast in her place. It's an impossible task, we know -- but we're all about the impossible.

Well if she leaves it kills her career. She can try other things and still be in the HP movies...but as soon as she walks out her next things will bomb and she won't have the Hermoine to fall back on...
...all she'll have is "should have stayed in HP..."

Among the DVD extras on the last film was an interview with Emma and she emphatically stated that she was really attached to her character and couldn't imagine not being able to see the series through to the end.

Uhhh, I do believe she IS returning. Mostly because there are pictures of her and the cast from OotP. And she's still in the cast list on imdb.com.

i thought that she was in negotiations presently as to what her salary would be. not if she would be playing her or not.

no one can leave the pics at this point. with only 2 movies left to shoot, that's just silly.

She's definitely in for OotP. The aol report said she may not return AFTER OotP.

Currently she is listed as "attached" for HBP, due to be released in 2008.

It's pretty amazing that for their final year when they are supposed to be 17 or 18, they'll really be 20/21, as they've shot a movie every year to year and a half. So it doesn't look like the series will have 90210 syndrome after all....

Uhhh, check the bolded word.

I read that in Newsweek as well. Seems she wants to do other things, meaning to have a life, not to do other acting projects. While the two boys have been actors for a long time, she hadn't done anything prior to Hermione. From what I can tell, she'd be content not being an actress for the rest of her life.

I read somewhere that she said she wants to pursue other interests besides acting, like an education. She said she sounded ungrateful saying that though so it's good to know that she's humble and would do it for good reasons, not a Hilary Duff situation.
