  • New Disney Animated Feature?

Um, I recieved an invitation to a screening of a new Disney animated feature... Sadly, I don't think i'm going to be able to go... but does anyone know what this might be? I didn't know they were still doing animation? Can this really be a Pixar movie?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Depending on the rest of the invite verbiage it's probably
    Meet The Robinsons

For awhile there Disney wasn't doing any hand drawn animation and only computer animation, like Pixar does. All future Pixar films will still be labeled Disney-Pixar. Disney Animation now appears it will be mixed as the new film The Frog Princess will be hand drawn.

I saw an early presentation reel awhile back from Disney for "Rapunzel" that looked like it would be standard 2D animation.

one of them was rumored to be produced by elton john, but they seem to want to try some more fairy tales in 2d....i don't knbow how long they will be, the stories just don't seem to have the contet for a 90 min film....but who knows, maybe they will make them quirky or something...

Glene Kene is doing Rapunzel (Unbraided?) and I've heard Chris Sanders (Lilo and Stitch) is working on something....

              It's been pretty quiet though...

                Re: New Disney Animated Feature?

According to various reports now that John Lassiter is in charge of feature animation at both studios, he has said that Pixar will continue to do the full CGI features and the Disney Feature Animation Department will once again be responsible for hand drawn 2-D Animation Features. And that no longer would the upper management mooks be allowed to come down and tell them what Cute Little Character should be added, or make any changes in the storyline once the final apporval has been given by him and the directors. The Animation Group at Disney will be in charge of the animation, not some suit with a BA in business. I think this is just so neat and hope they can stick to it. It supposedly has Iger's blessing as well, and you can't go any higher than that.

I believe Chris Sander's film is American Dog. Both Rapunzel and American Dog are CG movies. Now that is not to say that future Disney Studios movies will not be 2-D, but these are planned as CG.
