Wicked..anyone seen it?

Hey ya'll.. me and my girlfriend bought tickets to see "Wicked" at the Panteges Theatre...and i was wondering if any of you have seen it and was it any good.. i wanted to see it last year but never got around to it.. i'm hoping its awesome cause we paid $420 for the tickets!

Victoria and I saw Wicked at the Pantages last year. I'll be honest. I love the music from that show, but the show doesn't quite live up to the music. I'll certainly be contradicted for my opinion.

You will enjoy the show. You're money was well spent to see a wonderful production. You will, however, see flaws.

BTW: I don't know if you've ever been to The Pantages. The theatre alone is worth the ticket price. What a palace!

I've seen it five times!

If you search the Entertainment section, you'll find many many Wicked threads, but this is one of the last ones with discussion. There's also a thread about a MiceChat Wicked trip in April.

I have indeed seen it. I saw the touring cast and I loved it! I admit, I had heard the soundtrack about a year before I saw it and was obsessed with Wicked! so I may be a bit partial.

There are still moments I will never forget, and as a theatre major I can say there are things in this show (tech wise, story wise, and so on) that are amazing and are unlike anything I've seen in other productions.

But, to each there own and it's okay if everyone else doesn't love it as much as I do. Either way I hope you and your girlfriend have a great time!

I've seen it three times now (in San Diego, Orange County, and Seattle) and loved it every time! You won't be disappointed. Like Tom Chaney says, it has flaws, but it's definitely very entertaining!

I saw the touring group when it came to Pittsburgh. I liked the show a lot and am glad I went, but I honestly don't know what all the hype is about. You will get your money worth, so enjoy it. My favorite is still the phantom.

i am sure you and your girlfriend will enjoy Wicked! I love the show and pretty much everyone who has heard it loves it too! Its about as big as rent was when the stage show first came out (not talking bout the movie...ugh). It has great music by stephen schwarts (pochahontas!) and a great story line that is emotional yet very funny at times. Every cast is usually amazing becuase the music is hard to sing. The effects are amazing and will dazzle you! The show is kinda perfect for disney fans and ofcourse wizard of oz fans. I think the story line is great and the themes touch everyone and make the story even more interesting on so many levels. Its a complex show that is a lot of fun and never ways you down. I've read thee book its based on...and though ofcourse the book touches on the themes better and elaborates more on the message...the music IS BETTER! They changed the story and made it much more interesting and ofcourse has the great music and visuals! You are in for a treat!

We saw Wicked in San Francisco and thought it was amazing. Loved the story.
My daughter saw it in NYC and actually thought the touring company was better in SF, even though in NYC it was still with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel.
I think you'll enjoy it - or force yourself to because of the money!

Oooh I believe you will enjoy it! I've seen it twice, first when it world premeired in San Fransico (w. orginal broadway cast minus joel grey) and then in Hollywood last year. I loved it both times. It's one of the few musicals I've seen recently that is a compleate package - meaning sets, costumes, music, story and acting are all equal - not one thing or another stands out - It's all wonderful. I've yet to run into anyone who didn't enjoy Wicked! Have fun!! You must have great seats for that price boy!!!

Adam and I bought tickets on Sunday morning when they began sales to the public via Ticketmaster. We had an opportunity to buy via the American Express pre-sale, but we thought we would be able to get better seats when they released more seats to the public ... WRONG! The best seats Amex had for pre-sale for at the 3rd tier on a Saturday night and yesterday, they were completely sold out. We ended up buying tickets for a Wednesday night show with third row on the 4th Tier (balcony) seats. Next time, we'll buy early with Amex.

The show is in March here in Miami at the new Carnival Center and I'm really looking forward to seeing Wicked in that brand new venue.

It Is The Best Thing Ob Broadway To Date!!!!!!! I was in the last rown in Orchestra the seats and it was still FANTASMIC! I saw it on broadway a few months after it came out...Idina and Krisin were the BOMB...or like the kids say these days: TIGHT!!! Alot of green...and it fits! WOOT WOOT! I totally want to read the book now! Off to the nearest Barnes & Noble....i shall return with my copy!

But I have read and LOVE the book, I highly recommend it. The sequel, Son of a Witch, is good but not quite as awesome as the first book.

I read the book first and was disappointed in it. I love Gregory Maguire's work (favorite is Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister) and so I was really reluctant to go to the musical but it was AMAZING. I don't know how you couldn't like it!
