MIPCOM NEWS: Buena Vista International Television (BVITV) has sealed a multi-year VoD agreement with Spanish telecoms operator Telefonica.
Separately, BVITV has also closed major multi-genre agreements with national broadcasters Studio 1+1 and ICTV in the Ukraine.
The Spanish deal spans a selection of movies from the Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films libraries, and includes recent titles such as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest as well as upcoming releases such as thriller Hollywoodland and Anthony Minghella's new drama Breaking and Entering (starring Jude Law and Juliette Binoche).
Mindful of piracy levels in the region, the agreement also includes a cooperation clause between BVITV and Telefonica to protect BVITV's content against piracy.
