Hey, remember how we told you that Orlando Bloom's character may not survive through a fourth Pirates installment? Well, Moviehole spoke with a rep for Disney who denied everything saying, "We are working closely with Disney and want you to know that while we cannot comment on specific plot points, such rumors are completely unfounded." Even if these rumors were true, it's not like Disney is going to come out and go, "That's it, you got us!" Personally, I say they kill off everyone except Captain Jack, then bring him back for a spin-off TV series on Cartoon Network called, The Adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow Jr. Whaddya think?
This is a mistake... we're talking MAJOR overkill on the franchise if they keep doing this.
I don't know. I think it depends on when they decide to actually start writing Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and plan to release the film. If they wait a few years and have a solid script it could be good for the franchise and Disney.
Personally three would be more than enough for me. Looks like they're going to milk this "franchise" for all they can, and Jack Sparrow's Island becomes a shuttered memory once the buzz of the moment fades, just like the Aladdin thing did in the old Tahitian Terrace spot.
Yes, there is such a thing as overkill.
Maybe they're trying to see if they can outdo "Rocky".
Yes, Walt Disney was about making money too - but bean counters did not build the empire.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
In 25 years, just think, they can tweak the movies so that they can do new effects they couldn't do before, then call them "the originals we had in mind all along."
They don't need to kill off Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley when they do "The Phantom Sparrow", "Attack of the Sparrows", and "The Revenge of the Sparrow"....

Amen! I'm sick of it already. Far too much pirates in my face over the past summer. I'm not looking forward to 3 anymore because of it. Honestly didn't even enjoy 2 as much as 1. Isn't that always the way it goes though?
Now, I wounldn't mind have only three movies. But I would love to see the events that happend before Curse of the Black Pearl took place and how Jack meet Barbossa and when Jack worked for the EITC. Now that would be cool to see that.

Ride lines, why did it have to be ride lines!!! :captain:
They should wait 16 years, and then start doing prequels.
You got it wrong... first they wait till the 20th anniversary of the first movie to release Pirates of the Caribbean: Special Edition with all new CGI effects. Enhanced scenes include Barbossa shooting first and a ghost image of Keith Richards. Then two years later they start work on the prequels featuring a story that evolves around a young Keith Richards...
