  • The Most Beloved Disney Full Length Feature "Family/Live Action" Film

If you're looking for Wrassler's Animated Poll, click here:

But after posting in his, it inspired my own which is this one.

When trying to figure out what "ENG" was lol, Mary Poppins came to mind. Yes, OBVIOUSLY, that was not it. But here was the inspiration for this thread. Mary Poppins is probably one of the best full length family films of all time. It won 4 oscars for crying out loud. But it falls under this category. And it's not the only one. So come on fellow mice chatters, send in your votes. What is your favorite family film? Is it Mary Poppins, Parent Trap, Swiss Family Robinson, or something else?

And yes, there are PLENTY OF A LOT more that should be on that list, but it only allows up to 10. Others are Absent Minded Professor, The Shaggy Dog, Darby O'Gill & The Lil People, Babes In Toyland, The Monkey's Uncle, and The Ugly Dachsund. Just to name a few.

I personally enjoy Homeward Bound and the first Mighty Ducks movie.

But from the Disney Era, I would have to say mary Poppins too.

I know I should put Mary Poppins or Old Yeller or something, but Parent Trap will always and forever be my favorite movie.

I actually want to vote for three..PollyAnna, Mary Poppins, and Old Yeller. Though all the ones listed were "winners" in my book.

Swiss Family Robinson - But I'm biased cause I helped train a number of the animals on that shoot. (My "baby" Squeeky the Zebra was my favorite one!)

I have no problem with ENG. I thought it was a refreshing
Disney animated movie. And I LOVE YZMA and Kronk! They
really rate high on my villains list.

Now, for this vote, Glad that you allowed multiple choices.
You might want to edit your first post to let others know they
                      can choose more than one.

I voted for Mary Poppins, obviously the top choice, with
the Academy Award, one that Walt worked on, etc.

2nd, Song of the South, again an Academy Award winner,
And in spite of all the crap from potically correct $#(%*%*,
This is really one of Walt's best! And the word "beloved"
is certainly a perfect adjective to describe this movie. With
that said, Eisner AND IGER should be hanging their heads in
shame for denying the opportunity of new generations to see
this classic Walt Disney movie. Neither of these two could
show the fortitude and courage to stand up for one Walt's
finest movies. E and I ought to be flogged for their disrespect
of this wonderful movie. It's really incomprehensible that they
keep it locked away, and left to rot. Saying shame on them
is not enough. The music in Song of the South is absolutely
charming, as is the performance of James Baskett, and was
acknowledged by the Academy, as well. Standing ovation for
this movie. Boos and Hisses to Eisner and Iger for holding it
                      hostage.

Next Up, Swiss Family Robinson. Exitement, Adventure, Fun,
Pirates, the Treehouse fantasy that every little kid, and many
grown ups would love to live in, and even inspired the original
                      Treehouse in Disneyland.

I'm surprised, even with limited space, that you did not list
20,000 Leagues as a picture. That would definitely be in the
top 10 beloved Disney live action movies.

Pollyanna is charming too, and then round it off with Old Yeller,

I really wouldn't consider some of the newer movies on the list,
as most of production or all was done after Walt passed away.

I have to agree with the bulk of the responders. Mary Poppins is truly the most beloved. However, since the question asked for MY favorite I said Herbie! (see Becka, you aren't the only one.)

I liked Mary Poppins, but I found it a bit disjointed. It seemed to just wander from set piece to set piece.

My second fav would have to be Pete's Dragon. I LOVE ELLIOTT!

Recently I watched "The Strongest Man in the World" and "The Barefoot Executive." Highly recommended!

The Strongest Man in the World features Kurt Russell as a teen who becomes strong by eating chemically altered cereal. The message to the film seemed to be that all performance enhancing drugs are good.

Barefoot Executive also featured Kurt, this time with a chimp who could pick television shows.

If you ever saw this, then you are probably waiting to watch the first episode of "Abraham Lincoln's Doctor's Dog."

 I just love watching all these older movies...Blackbeard's Ghost; Where the Red Fern Grows; Darby O'Gill and the Little People.;The Absent-Minded Professor; The One And Only, Genuine, Original Family Band; The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin; The Happiest Millionaire; Kidnapped; The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit; Johnny Tremai;......oh my gosh, I got carried away  ; but I could go on and on.
Everyone should see these at least once, and especially share them with their children!

Totally agree with you on SOTS. Though its been ages since I've seen it. I was always told Disney wouldnt show it out of respect for the NAACP, demeaning African Americans. But I've heard that the NAACP has no problem with Disney if they release it again.

And I am surprised I didn't include 20,000 leagues. My apologies. I just wish that the powers that be with Micechat would allow us more options for polls. Say, allow up to 15 or 20.
