  • Your favourite/worst musical cover

I just heard a particularly amazing cover song, Linkin Parks's Numb covered by the British Beyonce Jamelia. It is amazing. Think Aretha Franklin meets Bruce Springsteen. I know!

So anyway. Some covers are dreadful. Tina Turner doing Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy is unbearable. Anyway. What are your favourite and worst covers? Follow the guidlines below

I think Chicago has the best CD Cover. The pictures they included are amazing. Plus, they have a picture of Joel Grey as Amos, and he's one of my favorite actors. In a role played by another of my favorite actors, John C. Reily. Oh, wait, that isn't what you meant when you said "musical covers?" Why do I always misinterpret things?

                        Best:
Alien Ant Farm covering Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal"
Beatles covering "Act Naturally" (I could look up the original artist, but the case is so far away...)

                        Worst:
Fred Durst covering the Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" (and then claiming he wrote the song? That fooled no one, least of all the interviewer)

Zissou, you said any Beatles cover, does that include Aerosmith and "Come Together?"

G n' R doing "live and let die" was pretty bad.

Great was Social Distortion doing "under my thumb"

I know I was barfing when I heard that version of "Money." I just thought of another really good cover...I LOVE Eric Clapton's version of Elton John's "Border Song."

There's no point doing a cover unless you're going to do something really different with it. Never released properly, but the live version is played here in the UK quite a bit.

(Check it out here and skip about 2.45 mins into the mp3)

                                        I agree with Gemini...
the best cover of all time is:
original artist: either Jimi or Bob Dylan (I'm not sure which)
                                        song: All Along the Watchtower
Remake artist: Dave Matthews Band (especially the Listener Supported Album version)

                                        worst remake:
                                        original artist: Led Zeppelin
                                        song: Thank You
Remake artist: Sheryl Crow (how could you do this to such a beautiful song?????)
I only hope we never lose sight of one thing... that it was all started by a mouse!
