How many of you have visited a very well known, supposedly haunted building?

If you have not visited one, which one would you like to see someday?

I would like to visit the Winchester House, The Myrtle Plantation, and the Whaley House.

I've been to the Winchester Mystery house, and hope to go to the Haunted Loveland castle not too far from me.

Sorry....I don't have the guts! I'd probably freak out pretty close to the entrance and run all the way home!

            My best score ever!

We're going to the Winchester House on my daughter's field trip to San Francisco next May. My mom says I've been there, but I don't remember.

My parents took us to ghost towns a lot when we lived in California--but I moved when I turned seven, so I don't remember.

I've been to the Queen Mary, nothing happened there, but you can feel energies there. And I've also been to The Georgian Hotel in LA, which is supposedly haunted, but nothing went on there either. I don't think I'd like to go to the Winchester house though. It creeps me out even on TV. Honestly I'd have to say though, I've had more ghostly (if you want to call them that) things happen at Disneyland than anywhere else I've been!

                    Re: Haunted Travels

The School where I work was built in 1874 and is supposedly haunted and a town nearby, one we oft take tourists/friends visiting, is rumored to have a ghost merely walking up and down the main drag.

Usually in October, my partner and I will take a late night road trip over the witching out to see the famed ghost lights of SilverCliff cemetary, about 2 hours from here.

All famous Colorado legends for us in these parts. I don't know how famous beyond that.

                    Peace!

The ghost town I remember going to was Bodie.

Anyway, I do not want to visit the Lizzie Borden house though.

I did visit the Bardstown Jailers Inn, which is about 40 minutes from where I live. Travel Channel labeled it as #9 of the top ten spookiets, or is it scariest?, places in the country. It is so small and the hanging ground is the size of an average backyard.

The most popular haunt down here is the Waverly Hills though.

                        Re: Haunted Travels

I've been to the Whaley House, and I wasn't impressed. After paying the $4 to get in, they hand you a paper of "hot spots" around the house (which is actually quite small) and you get to freely walk around yourself. You can walk into and around the Courtroom to look at all the artifacts in glass cases that once belonged to the Whaley family or dug up on the property and surrounding area. You then exit back into the main foyer to a small hallway that leads to some stairs. One of the supposed "hot spots" is in the middle of the staircase "a cold breeze can be felt" and this is where people would congregate (mind you this is not a big staircase) and swear they feel the cold breeze. I think it was the power of suggestion. At the top of the stairs are all the rooms, closed off with plexiglass so that you can look in but cannot go in. It's very museum-like... which is understanding because they want everything to look nice. One thing I felt was tasteless, over in the child's room were some alphabet blocks on the floor that spelled out "A GHOST". Oh look... I saw A GHOST in the child's room.

Well anyway... not that I want to discourage you from going because maybe I just went at an off-time and just wasn't feeling it, but don't go in expecting a lot.

I keep wanting to go to the Winchester House but still haven't made it down there... although I want to believe, I am very skeptical of the place simply for the backstory they give it.

That's not to say I'm not a believer at all... heck, I think my own house is haunted, heheh.

Didn't Ghost Hunters do a show at Waverly Hills? If it's the place I'm thinking of, I would like to go there myself as well.

                        On a somewhat related note:

There is a stretch of road near where I live that has had numerous sightings, one of which I experienced personally, but I can't find anything written about the story behind the reason the road is haunted in the first place. But it is fun to drive down on a dark night... you can just feel the energies all around.

Yes they did. I live about 2 hours from there.
