Miramax's "The Queen" entered the top-10 chart over the weekend as the studio specialty divisions heatedly jockey for position headed into kudos season.

"Queen," starring Helen Mirren, took in an additional $3 million, in 387 playdates, to move cume past $10 million. Miramax had boosted the print circulation on the Stephen Frears pic by 235.

Other platforming pics that could become familiar names as year-end lists pile up also showed healthy biz.

Sony Classics bowed Pedro Almodovar's "Volver" in five locations to $202,243 and a robust per-engagement average of $40,449.

Paramount Vantage's starry "Babel" played to $918,464 on 35 for a per-engagement average of $26,242. Cume is almost $1.5 million.
