Article from Orlando Sentinel - November 30, 2006
    D-Rays might visit Disney

The baseball team is discussing playing one regular-season series there in 2007.

Major League Baseball in Central Florida? For once, think beyond spring training.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays are talking with Disney officials about holding one regular-season series in 2007 at The Ballpark at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

"The conversations are still preliminary, and it is one of a number of efforts we are considering to help cultivate greater support for the Rays in the Orlando area and throughout Central Florida," Devil Rays President Matt Silverman said.

Silverman said he was "optimistic" the team could reach an agreement with Disney within "the next several weeks." He said any move to hold regular-season games at Disney instead of at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg would have to be OK'd by Major League Baseball and the city of St. Petersburg. It also might require the players union's approval.
