Okay, I have been watching it on and off, so I have missed a lot. But what the HECK was with that sexy CGI peacock chick with the "bigguns" making the sexy jokes? Holy cow, I walked into the room to my son watching this chick and I was like "Wha??"In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe. -Michael Jackson

Oh, I hope I get home in time to watch it!Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
Marge: Pink.
Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"

ORWEN: Well, us Cauldron girls just couldn't take more than about a half hour of this new version--before we had to turn away from our crystal ball in disgust. Dorothy lacked any sort of sympathetic appeal and without THAT the movie doesn't even begin to appeal.
ORDDU: I suppose this is what comes of trying to take a classic fairy tale and thrusting it into a more modern culture. But, if you stop and think about it, who wants a fairy tale that reminds you so much of the same things you see and hear on a daily basis? My sisters and I prefer things that are timeless--such as the original WIZARD OF OZ.
ORGOCH: Heck!! Even RETURN TA OZ was better 'n THIS dang crap they put out!
ORWEN: And we LIKE the Muppets. But THIS? I wish Dorothy had been a puppet, too, instead of a well known singer type who--right off the bat--comes across as somebody who's so interested in self-promotion that she can't see straight. Instead of being humble and grateful for what she has, THIS version of Dorothy comes across as spoiled and slightly defiant. I didn't like her at all.
ORDDU: Miss Piggy was somewhat amusing--portraying the various witches. But the human cast--and the songs--also helped to ruin this version. No heart and no appeal for us--and such a wasted script for the normally appealing Muppets.

I just finished watching Muppet's Wizard of Oz and I have to say it was one of the best movies I've seen in a while and by far the best Muppet movie. Also, this wasn't a cheesy remake (like Ebbie for the Christmas Carol), this was a well done version that didn't confuse itself with the MGM version and gave the Muppets signature. The whole movie was great and I really hope it got good ratings. I love that they used rare characters like the Sweedish Chef, Pepe, Rizzo and Sam Eagle. If you didn't see it because you thought it would be horrible, I highly suggest seeing it (either when it goes into repeat or on DVD). If and (hopefully) when you see it, don't compare it to the MGM version because they are nothing alike. Each are good in their own way.
As for the CG girl, it was just humor with gonzo because she turned into a CG Chicken (Gonzo's love). She was no worse than Jessica Rabbit.
SpoilerI loved the little jokes in it (like the Frank Oz and Small World jokes). The Quinton Tarrintino segment was a little dark but extremely funny. The nipple segment was hysterical as was the Biker scene and Stadler/Waldorf scene. I also liked the Napster joke in the begining.

DQ, I wish I would have seen your warning before I saw the show, which I was thoroughly enjoying (except for the 1st 10 minutes, which i missed), until an hour in the show when Egotistical Eisner sits in with the muppets! UUGGGGGHHH!
But, we can all be thankful Eisner exited gracefully. I will always remember his final words:
"I'M MELTING!!! I'm MElting.........."
Hurray!!!! Hurray! The Muppets Melted Eisner!!!!!!!Last edited by Aladdin; 05-21-2005, 05:04 PM.Critter Country's a mess ev'r since the Country Bears were kicked out. I love the Muppets, but I've heard mostly negative things about this movie. I can't stand Ashanti, so that killed it for me. Her guest stint on Buffy a couple years ago showed how awful her acting skills are. It's too bad because as much as I love those Muppets, I just can't bring myself to watching this.
