  • Walt's Lilly Belle & the Carolwood Pacific Train

Went to the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace today to check out Walt's private train. The Disney family has leant it to the Museum for the Festival of Trains display. This is the train Walt built that he rode around on his backyard on to entertain his two girls. A couple of other Disney tranportation displays were there also. Nice afternoon out, being kinda wet and all. This will be on display there until January 7th if anyone is interested in checking it out.

Thanks for the pictures! I've never been to the area, and was wanting to go see this ... but ... not sure of what else there is to do around there. Do you have any suggestions?

It's only 15 minutes from Disneyland.......humm, that might be an idea!

Shows how little I know of the area ... For years I called the I-5 the Disneyland Freeway (and I got funny stares).

It's too bad that one has to endure Nixon's Presidential library to visit the exhibit.

I was there a couple of years ago, and, while the exhibits regarding Nixon's positive impact on diplomatic relations with China were interesting, the presentation of the tapes regarding the Watergate burglary and theft were just aggravating in their white-washing of those events.

Still, I suppose Vice-President Nixon did inaugurate the monorail system, so the fact that the museum is hosting that part of the collection does make some sense.
