If you're feeling blue, here is his suggestion in his own words:

        Get up offa that thing,
and dance 'till you feel better,
        Get up offa that thing,
and dance 'till you, sing it now!
        Get up offa that thing,
and dance 'till you feel better,
        Get up offa that thing,
and try to release that pressure!
        Get up offa that thing,
and shake 'till you feel better,
        Get up offa that thing,
and shake it, say it now!
        Get up offa that thing,
and shake 'till you feel better,
        Get up offa that thing,
and try to release that pressure!
        Get up off!
        Ha!
        Good God!
        So good!

        Ha!

        Get up offa that thing,
and shake 'till you feel better,
        Get up offa that thing,
and try to release that pressure!
Get up offa that thing, (Ha!)
and twist 'till you feel better,
        Get up offa that thing,

                    Re: James Brown RIP

James Brown lived up to his billing as "the hardest working man in show business." He undoubtedly gave as much of himself on stage as any other performer of his era...and apparently it was his drive to keep working that may have cut short his life.

I wonder if anyone else here is old enough to remember a film called the "TAMI" show...a short-lived mid-60's teenage music awards show...that was released for just a short time in theaters. It featured everyone from Jan and Dean to the Beach Boys to Mary Wells, the Supremes, and James Brown and the Flames.

That's where I first "saw" James Brown perform.

May he rest in peace in the knowledge that "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag".

"As a final gift to his fans, his casket will embark upon a 4-year, 300 city nationwide tour, affirming his title as the hardest working corpse in show business." (stole that from someone else and thought it was fitting)

This man is, was, and will always be a legend. Without him I don't think soul music or music in general would be the same.

About ten years ago I had the chance to spend a hilarious hour with him once, so dynamic a personality and completely on and in his own dimension. Here's a photo I had him sign (he'd never seen it before that day and loved it):

It can be found in the book, "Out of the Sixties" by Dennis Hopper
