Not bad. I've never been a cruise, and have been wanting to go on one - seems like the timing is perfect for a Disney Cruise.

This will officially go on sale Jan 31 and it will probably sell out quickly. We were thinking about doing MC Invasion III (2008) on the ship. Disney Cruise Line will not be accepting group reservations on the Mexico or Panama Canal sailings, so we would have to have a set date for everyone to buy into. Deposit would be $500.00 per person and would be refundable up to 90 days before sailing. If we can get a consensus date and enough interest from MC'ers we will be offering discounts or shipboards credits to those who join us for that sailing. We should have a date and details by the b-day meet on Jan 28 and before this officially goes on sale. Watch for it here on MiceChat.

That's a great idea! I'll keep a lookout for the date.

I have no doubt that the disney cruise will sell out as most cruises on the west coast do, but Disney cruises are some of the most costly out there I was thinking about the same cruise in sept on RCI and the prices start at $570.00 per person. I have read nothing but good about Disney Cruises, but that $2000.00 total for 2 people difference is a bit to much fo my budget.

Re: Back By Popular Demand! Disney Cruise Line Returns to West Coast for 2008

The rates are high for the Disney Cruise as:

              1) Little competition at this time of year - Carinval Pride is the only other ship during the summer

              2) Low per diem - Passengers on 2005 did not spend enough on the ship to please Disney execs.

              3) It is Disney - strong brand recognition and very loyal following.

              __________________________________________________ _________

The rates are much better on the fall cruises from the other cruise lines after they have finished the Alaska season and before they sail to the Caribbean. More ships, more competition. There are some great ships that do this run in the fall and early winter and as TahoeBob pointed out some great pricing.

This is terrible news for me. I've been trying to book a summer cruise in the eastern caribbean for two years.

You will probably have to wait awhile for this. The Caribbean cruises in the summer did not sell well, so they have been repositioning the ship at that time of year. They will probably continue this until they arrange for a 3rd ship.
