  • Revamped Disney site launched - Los Angeles Times, 2/7/07

Some of the pages and features were slow to start, even with high-speed Internet access. The most advanced and customizable part of the site, Disney XD, still had parts that weren't working, and Disney said it remained in a testing mode.

"It looks good, but it's very slow to load. I have a feeling they're gearing this toward the teenagers," one fan wrote on the MiceChat.com discussion forum.

Al Lutz, a longtime Disney watcher who writes at MiceAge.com, said the navigation was too complicated. But he added, "Anything's better than what they had before."

A Disney spokesman declined to comment on the number of Web visitors or the sort of feedback received by the firm.

      Yay Mike! :yea:

I have to disagree with Al. I haven't found the navigation complicated at all. Regardless of what environment you choose, the navigation bar at the top of each screen will take you wherever you need to go and is not hard to figure out.

Setting up a screen name for Disney XD, however, was an issue for me. I tried each of the following names:

disneytim - Guess you can't use the word "Disney" in your name.
lasvegastim - It's the city I'm from, and I've used this name on other sites, but, nope, city names appear to be out.
MiceChat D-Tim - Not sure if it was the space or "MiceChat," but this name was rejected.
      D-Tim - We have a winner . . . finally.

In the interest of creating non-offensive, family/Disney-friendly user names, I think the parameters are too restrictive.

I had no problem as they accepted MikeLand on the first try. I guess they don't fear the competition of me opening a new theme park with my name.

It is very sleek and flashy. Nut you can tell they did gear most of it towards kids. I didn't like the revolving character thing at the bottom, but I did love the tab bar at the top.

Goodness... it's Flash-based interface is eating up memory, not to mention not supporting tabbed browsing.
