Area man owns rights to 'Shark Boy'

A Middletown professional wrestler wants to take a bite out of an upcoming 3-D movie from Disney-owned Miramax Film Corp., claiming his trademark "Shark Boy" had been infringed upon.

Dean Roll has used Shark Boy since 1997, and owns trademark 2,357,366 for "SHARK BOY," registered five years ago with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

He filed a lawsuit Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati seeking to protect his mark.

Miramax is promoting The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D, starring George Lopez, Taylor Dooley, Taylor Lautner and Cayden Boyd, to open Friday.
