  • Song remakes you like

We've all discussed song remakes that we hate, so what are some remakes that you actually like?

-The Prayer: This song was sung first by Celine Dion and Andrea Bochelli and re-done by Josh Groban and Charlotte Church. For Josh's vocal ability and age at the time of recording, he sounded great, not up to par with Andrea, but good. Charlotte sucked with celine's part.

-Kiss The Girl - I hated it the first time I heard it, but Ashley Tisdale's version grew on me and I like it now.

-Smile - I like it re-done by Josh Groban, he really put a lot of emotion in it, just as good as Tony Bennett's version, IMO.

-Save The Last Dance For Me: Lovin Michael Buble's version of this song!!!

This is all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment, but if I remember any more, i'll post them.
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

Every cover that Michael Buble has done is incredible.
I also like the remake of Car Wash that Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott did. Christina hits a mind-blowing high note.

            YES! :yea:

I like covers if they're done well. Some favorites...

-Johnny Cash's version of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus"
-Anberlin's version of The Cure's "Lovesong"
-OK Go's version of The Cure's "The Lovecats"
-Marilyn Manson's version of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love"
-Coldplay's version of A-Ha's "Hunting High and Low"
-Pet Shop Boy's version of U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name"
-the Chilli Pepper's version of The Ohio Player's "Rollercoaster of Love"
-Duran Duran's version of Elvis Costello's "Watching the Detectives" and Grandmaster Flash's "White Lines"

A friend of mine's old band did some really great covers of The Police's "So Lonely" and Oasis' "Wonderwall".... they totally rocked them up and made them their own. They recorded "So Lonely" so I dig it out every now and then and give it a listen.

Most songs that Me First and the Gimme Gimmes do. Though people seem to not like them at all because they're just punk covers. But their "Rainbow Connection" and johnny cash's "Sunday Morning Coming Down" is amazing.

But my alltime favorite remake is the Brian Setzer Orchestra doing "Mack the Knife."

Jim Brickman did "The Disney Songbook" and it features several Disney remakes. This is a very good CD.

Someone's redone Patrick Swayze's She's Like the Wind, and I know every word and sing along with it, no matter how horrid it is, just because it pains my children.

Loved Natalie Cole's cover of "Unforgettable" (although with her dad singing "duet" - how could she miss?)

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Michael Buble all the way! And I too like Ashley Tisdale's Kiss the Girl. And I really really like the necklace she wears in the music video.
