Following the mad scramble to set key award dates in anticipation of Oscar season, the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. has staked out Jan. 13 for its 65th annual Golden Globe Awards.

Kudofest is returning to its traditional Sunday slot, despite having delivered its best ratings in three years on a Monday earlier in January. NBC will broadcast the Globes from the Beverly Hilton at 8 p.m. PST.

HFPA unveiled its timetable more than a month earlier than it did last year, reflecting an increased rush for the guilds and other orgs to sked events early on. SAG announced its dates Feb. 27, barely two days after the Oscars, while the DGA and PGA made their announcements on March 1 and March 28, respectively.
