Planet Hollywood casino set to open in Las Vegas in September

Stomp, called Stomp Out Loud, has opened at the property in a new $28 million theater. The property also has added a show by magician Hans Klok, who will have Electra as an assistant for three months.

TV newsmagazine Extra will open a lounge to conduct celebrity interviews and keep patrons up to date with entertainment news, while Panasonic provided 5,000 plasma displays for public areas and guest rooms.

Boulevard Invest LLC announced last month that the shops in the attached Desert Passage shopping mall at the property would begin operating as Miracle Mile Shops in May.

OpBiz is a partnership that includes Earl, private equity investor Bay Harbour and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. Earl and Bay Harbour Management have a joint venture with an 85% interest in the property while Starwood holds the remaining 15%.

Wow, interesting choice. I thought Planet Hollywood was "been there, done that" as a concept.

We never had one in Hollywood, just Beverly Hills & Costa Mesa (where there were actual Hollywood stars more often than not at the BH location)- both long gone. But anything is better than what the former Aladdin had become!

The only Planet Hollywood I've ever been to is the one across the street at Cesar's Palace. It was a bummer the "new" Aladdin thing didn't work out. It seemed like it had a little revival and then it crashed and burned.

I think its floor layout was flawed to being with.
And Planet Hollywood has definitely jumped the shark.

Yeah, I liked the Aladdin and the shops were cool. But the layout of the Casino was no good IMO. Hopefully that is one thing they are changing.

Ugh, yeah, we need another Planet Hollywood flop.

And the Aladdin had the worst casino layout and the shops were sad and little and always closed. I remember once, before the "new" Aladdin, we tried to enter the casino and we couldn't figure how to get in...along with about 50 other people.

Then once you were in, you couldn't get out....I hated that place!

Planet Hollywood. Cause celebs really hang out there.

I really am not impressed with Planet Hollywood any more. I have been to three; Orlando, London and New York. Same menus at all locations, same poor quality food. I mean, for the silly prices your paying, you'd expect the food would match the quality of the exhibits, which I am impressed with. Eurgh. I've had raw food there many a time. Well, two out of three times

Wouldn't jump at the chance to do anything under the Planet Hollywood brand now. Including this.

Floorplan was a disaster, yes, but I hate to lose the Arabian theme. The original Aladdin in it's prime had some great themed elements which are now lost on the strip forever.

Desert Passage was nice when it first opened - it even included an Aladdin-ish "parade" through the mall that was remarkably somewhat good! I'm not even sure they ever stopped it.

Planet Hollywood is a long-lost idea. I hope they do well, but if it flops, I sadly won't be surprised.

The new Aladdin was a bad set up, small in every respect, I mean the sportsbook was little more than a service counter with a couple of TVs. Hopefully this will help the resort grow and be a place to visit again.

Hubby and I were in Vegas in march, and we saw an ad in one of the local magazines that the Aladdin had Pinks Hot Dogs in it and we thought cool, we live in so cal and love Pinks, so we thought it would be fun to get one while in Vegas, well we walked all around,(they already had some planet Hollywood stuff up) and couldn't find it, asked someone and they told us upstairs, we kept walking around didn't see anything at all resembling a Pinks, all there was was a little food stand, with sandwiches, cookies, salads, etc, well they had Pinks hot dogs there. I was quite disappointed, so hopefully since they are turning it into a Planet Hollywood thing, they will add an actual Pinks stand.

I stayed in the old Aladdin about 12 yrs ago and it wasnt too bad. While we were walking through in march it was horrible and we coulnd't find anything, we had to pick up our rental car there on sunday and the Avis booth was hard to find and after we checked in with Avis, we had to wait outside with the rest of the guests waiting for Valet and it took about 45min to get our car.

I hope they change the set up and casino now that it is changing names and themes, because if it is set up at all like it was when we were there, it will be a failure.

We were there two weeks ago, and they were hanging the sign. They only had the HOL up. Looked very tacky. No progress at all.

The outside is looking pretty sweet, though. Although I think that Planet Hollywood has totally "jumped the shark" as you've said, I hope it does well, and breathes a little life into that place.

Sad to see the Aladin go, I think from the strip it was one of the best themed outsides. I hope PH works!

I could see a Planet Hollywood theme maybe 10 years ago when there was at least a small interest in the brand. I actually liked the new Aladdin hotel, but admit it was not well designed.
