Rosie O'Donnell has decided to part ways with the View early after having a much publicized on air argument with co-star Elisabeth Hasselbeck. O'Donnell has three weeks left in her contract, and the departure means it is uncertain if she will return to Television.

They can go back to the sometimes pleasant, usualy banal show it used to be, and many will stop watching. I suppose from the stand point of WHY people were watching (to see the debate), this is an interesting and slightly fitting end. It's a bummer though.

I think she should have stayed to the end of her contract. I personally can't stand Elisabeth. She bugs.
Also, there's so much focus on Rosie and Elisabeth that Joy's comments were totally overshadowed. Behar has some valid points in her tirade.

Bummer yes, but not a fitting end. She deserved a proper send off since she's the reason that show had such great ratings...EVER. Tuesday will be the day to watch to *hopefully* see some guilt in that little conservative witch's face.

I agree, I thought she had great points about the whole adminstration. Too bad she couldn't finish what she started because of Elisabeth.

I'm glad I was able to see the debate on YouTube. I found it very incredibly interesting and revealing. I'm actually very proud of The View for NOT going to a commercial break during the heated debate. I think emotions were way too hot for ANYONE to come to some resolution at that moment, but I do think that it could've led to a more fruitful discussion.

A couple of observations...

Why in the HELL did the idiot who posted the clip on YouTube call it a cat fight? I find that insulting, but it probably reflects more about the poster's lack of ability to appreciate intelligent, emotional debate than anything.

Rosie sure added a spark to that show. I doubt that anyone could replace her and the show will return to being the pablum of nothingness that it was before.

The most revealing part of that debate was the true about more people watching Dancing with the Stars than Al Gore on CNN. Entertainment is more important than quality of life and world event. (But, that leads to another rant, so I'll leave it be.)

Go Rosie. Go Elizabeth. Go Joy. Meh to whoever the other person is. I'm sorry Rosie is leaving The View.

I wonder if Rosie's going to get her own show again. The ratings were amazing for 'The View' while she was on.

I also find it offensive when people talk about Rosie and all they can do is bring up the subject of her sexuality and weight. Totally lame. Rosie had a point about that one.

I'm no fan of Rosie, but boy did I get suckered into watching The View just to see what she was going to say next.

She definitely made it more entertaining, even if all I did was make myself mad by listening to her ridiculous conspiracy theories and constant Bush bashing.

If they replaced Elisabeth with someone more knowledgeable and hard hitting, and replaced Rosie with someone with more "tact", it could work. But people love to watch train wrecks...

Saw The View that day - Rosie, as usual, was totally out of line. Ratings or no ratings, I'd be willing to bet her non-renewal of contract and now early departure are probably mutual between she and the producers.
