Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is breaking the rules. The first Los Angeles premiere for a Harry Potter film found its young stars in sweltering heat and feeling defiant at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Sunday.

Emma Watson, who plays Hermione, said the film is about "something every teenager goes through. Whether it's with parents or teachers, they learn to trust themselves and their own instincts rather than always relying on someone else telling them what to do."

This fifth screen installment (in theaters Wednesday) of J.K. Rowling's novels finds Harry clashing with a new teacher, Dolores Umbridge, a cruel agent of the government sent to Hogwarts school.

The role of the pink-clad, kitty-cat-decorative-plate-loving Umbridge is filled by Imelda Staunton, an Oscar nominee for 2004's Vera DrakePotter movies, was to feature fortunetellers and bathrooms decorated in the Pepto-Bismol hues of Umbridge's office.

Duff Goldman from Food Network's Ace of Cakes traveled cross-country from Baltimore with a giant cake in the shape of the Gothic towers of Hogwarts. Asked which part of the cake gave him the most trouble, Goldman said: "I'd really like to take a bite out of Dumbledore's tower."

Anyone going out to Hollywood for the cement ceremony tomorrow? I'll bet a lot of diehards who went out for the premiere today will just camp out tonight as well.

        HAND STAND

After premiering their movie the night before, Harry Potter stars Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson continue making quite an impression during their U.S. media tour, getting their hands (and wands!) dirty during a handprint ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Monday.

                  That is pretty cool!
I think they deserve it! It can't be easy doing seven movies in a row as the same character-at their young age. But know one else could take their place.

I went for the ceremony on Monday and it was nuts but very cool. Also got Emma and Rupert to sign my copy of Order of the Phoenix. Hopefully I'll have some pics posted and a full review posted soon.

^ Lucky! I was going to go, but kind of forgot. :bang:

That's great that they got to do that. The wand is a neat touch!
I agree about Emma, she is very pretty!

Los Angeles: Monday July 9, 2007 Event Hands/Footprint/Wand Ceremony
The three young stars of the "Harry Potter" films Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson place their hands and feet in cement in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in the Hollywood section of Los Angeles Monday. "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the fifth film in the series, has been released worldwide this week.

So I went to this event functioning on half of hour of sleep. Ok first the set up: I went to BOOTIE LA a awesome club in LA on Saturday night and got home around 3AM got up at 9AM and went to work. After work I thought I'd get some sleep but no luck, just half an hour at most.

So me and my fearless friend headed out around midnight and go to Hollywood Blvd. around 1 AM. There were maybe 20 people in front of us by then. So my friend passed out in her folding chair while I listen to some tunes and drew a little.

Bonus was the interesting array of people leaving clubs - some people wearing outfits that are just not right.

Around 4AM I got some food to go from the very cool 23 Degrees Bar Next to the Roosevelt Hotel. The guy running the bar was awesome, go check this place out. It's a cool throw back to old Hollywood bars, I kept waiting for the Rat Pack to show.

I brought the food back and by this time the rest of our group showed, by this time the line was very long. So it was back to waiting and more waiting in line. We had this cool guy named Mark that was there doing security for the line the entire night. After he left the trouble began with the line.

Most people including us thought that we would be escorted to the barrier along Hollywood Blvd across from the Chinese. Then we had security from EMS that gave us varying stories. Some told us the barrier and then some told us they'd seat us in the bleachers then take us down to the barrier. Which was ok but didn't make much sense. So the time comes and they lead us the first group to the very last bleacher and then the chaos began. The EMS people told us that this was it for us. Which was not fair in anyway. Especially for us and the people in front of us in line. So after some arguments with security we all left the bleachers and stood to the side of the barrier. By this time I thought a full scale riot was going to hit. One person in line talked to the cops explaining that there may be a possible riot while another person got a hold of the supervisor for EMS on the phone. The LAPD was super cool and sided with us. Which was awesome. Finally the supervisor for EMS shows and eventually we were all allowed into the barrier.

I think EMS handled this event badly and will be sending an email to Warner Brothers to make them aware of this problem. If you attended this event and experienced this please notify them.

Ok end of chaos. So we waited for awhile along the barrier (we are the ones with the Harry Potter Rocks sign) and baked in the sun. I had tons of sun block and still got pinked. The event started after 11:30 AM and after some speeches the three stars came out Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. Each actor spoke and were very happy and astonished by the huge crowds, each star received large cheers. After this they received their plaques for attending the ceremony. Then placed their wands, then hands and feet in the wet cement. After this the 3 stars we back into the Chinese and some people did leave. In about 10 minutes the cast came out and began to sign. Me the geek I am had my first edition of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" signed. Emma was awesome and very personable to everyone - she really took her time to sign and take pictures with fans. Rupert seemed a bit shy at times but was very cool and funny. Both took time to go along the barriers along Hollywood Blvd. Unfortunately I didn't receive Daniel's signature - it seems that his handler tends to rush him. There were some people that attended the premiere the day before and reported the same thing had happened. This looks bad on Daniel when really it's the handler fault. Hopefully he'll find out about this. So this all ended around 2 PM, after this we headed to Bob's Big Boy and headed home.

Would I ever do this again? I don't know. It was very cool to see this event since this ceremony only happens once, there are always premieres. I think if the EMS security was more organized maybe.

Ok I don't have the time to drop pics in this - ok I am lazy at the moment, GRIN. So if you want to check 'em out go to my Myspace and go to the pics section. There is a folder with the pics.
