  • Disney's Merlin Joins Honorable Wizards List

TEEN magician Harry Potter has had a bad spell, coming just THIRD in a poll to find the world’s favourite wizard.
Lord Of The Rings hero Gandalf, played by Sir Ian McKellen, won with a magical 44 per cent of votes.
Professor Albus Dumbledore, brought to life by Sir Michael Gambon and previously by the late Richard Harris in the Potter films, came second with 17 per cent.
Author JK Rowling’s hero Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, conjured up just nine per cent.
Merlin the magician, from Disney’s The Sword In The Stone, was fourth, followed by the wonderful Wizard of Oz from the classic 1939 film.
The poll of 3,000 movie fans was carried out by cinema advertising firm Pearl & Dean.
Spokeswoman Kathryn Jacob said: “When it comes to movie wizards the bigger the beard the better. So young Harry simply can’t compete!”

Nail. Head. Hit. I think the first thing people think of when they hear "wizard" is a long white beard & a pointy hat.

I have no problem with Dumbledore beating out Harry. Dumbledore is so much better. Gandalf at number one? I could see it, but 1 and 2 are pretty interchangeable on this list to me. Gandalf and Dumbledore are both awesome.

For me Gandalf is #1 easily. NOw if Dumbledore comes back from the dead, then I might rethink it.

Okay, I will definitely concede that. But, if he does, then it is almost as if he is too much like Gandalf. Still, Gandalf does rock pretty hard.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Even if Dumbledore does come back, he has not beat a Balrog single-handedly. But like I said before, he has a whole book left to do it in.

And I will not be complaining at all if he does come back.

Dude, the Wizard of Oz isn't even really a wizard... he just has the title. He's just a sentimental man (oops, Wicked moment).

So I guess Tommy, the pinball wizard wouldn't count either?

Hmmm, I wonder if the Wizard of Speed and Time was on the list?

                    Or Flash villian Weather Wizard.
