Disney Interactive Studios made several announcements this week at the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) in Santa Monica, following news of Disney's content deal with Microsoft for its Xbox 360 system.
- Disney Interactive has acquired Texas-based game developer Junction Point Studios to create new game franchises and build on existing ones. Junction Point becomes the fifth game studio Disney has added to its growing network of developers.
- In May 2008, Disney will launch DGamer, an online gaming community linking Nintendo DS handheld users in North America and eventually around the world. The network will also tie in to a special "channel" on Disney.com.
- New game titles set for release in 2008 include "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" (multiple platforms), first-person shooter "Turok" (multiple platforms) and "Spectrobes II" (Nintendo DS). Disney Interactive will also release a series of games based on High School Musical, Hannah Montana and other Disney Channel programs this Fall.
