  • Question: Should Disney Have A "Vault Disney Channel"?

Since they reformatted Disney Channel to a tween network, should the powers that be in charge of cable TV create a nostalgia-based Vault Disney TV channel?

I mean, they are sitting on thousands, say, hundreds of thousands of TV shows and films, and this would be great as a digital channel. But what do you really think, other than a member named VaultDisney?

It would be neat. But now that I have many of the classic Vault Disney shows on DVD, I can have my own Vault Disney night .

I definitely want a channel that shows all the old Disney cartoons--instead of the scary stuff they show today. I miss Chip 'n Dale, Darkwing Duck, even Gargoyles--are these considered 'vault material'? I don't think any of the cartoons the Disney Channel shows now-a-days are worth watching. Of course, this could perhaps be me growing up...

Didn't they use to play old cartoons and old Disney TV shows on the Disney Channel a while back? Maybe they were not popular, or decided to make you buy them on DVD.

Disney has another channel called Toon Disney. I think they play older cartoons on that one.

My kids love the Disney Channel and watch all that Tween stuff. It seems to be what's popular now.

Althea: Yes they would be included.

Nancywitt: Yes they did in the late '90's-early 00's.

And you would be correct on Toon Disney, but that becomes JETIX after 7 PM, and maybe this is what it will become down the road. If they start a Vault Disney channel, it would be a mixture of the Disney TV toons and all the other stuff mentioned.

Yes, they should have a Vault Disney channel.
BTW, the current Disney Channel is a blasphemy to the name of Disney, it gives many people the wrong impression of what Disney is about.

Yes, they use to show old cartoons on Disney Channel and then they moved them to Toon Disney. Then the old cartoon showing dies from there (meaning network channel wise). They have shown some recently. But not like they use to.

I would like to say yes to a Vault Disney Channel. But I would have a feeling they would do alot of changes like they did to Toon Disney.

Loved the channel in the beginning. But then they change to where I don't even care to look at that channel anymore.

Same here. Every time my sister turns the tv on, I have to turn on my iPod. And I won't even begin my rant on the Disney stars who sing `

I haven't watched the Disney Channel since the Vault Disney show (and other classics) were removed. I'm sure there is a demographic for a VaultDisney Channel (um... anyone over the age of 12).

I think it currently captures EXACTLY what current Disney is all about. milking as much money out of 12 year old girls as they can (High School Musical anyone?)

I would love a Vault Disney channel, where I could watch things like "Mickey Mouse Factory" "Disneyland" "Ink and Paint Club" the 1970's "Mickey Mouse Club". Heck they could buy old Nickelodeon shows like "Pete and Pete", "Roundhouse", "Danger Mouse", "You Can't Do That on Television" and "Turkey TV"
