  • Council delays decision on Disney homes project - LA Times, 7/18/07

After 2 1/2 hours of public testimony, the City Council opted Tuesday to postpone a decision that would have allowed voters to decide whether to permit a large housing project near Disneyland.

The council urged Disney and the project's developer to work out a compromise within two weeks.

"Being respectful of the City Council's decision, our focus will be going to the table in good faith and protecting the Anaheim Resort as the city's single largest source of revenue," Disney spokesman Rob Doughty said.

Frank Elfend, a consultant to the developer, said: "We always think constructive dialogue between parties is beneficial to the community. We're trying to end the bickering and bring the city back together."

Ah, like most governmental bodies... They want a settlement and not have to deal with the issue...

^Alas, they HAVE to make a decision, either repeal the zoning law (and then wait until at least a year to reconsider the same project) or place it on the ballot. The Referendum has been turned in, they can't take it back.
