    'Fallen' earns solid ratings

Two-hour movie nabbed 2.6 million viewers

    August 9, 2007

USA's "Starter Wife" and ESPN's "The Bronx Is Burning" have sucked up all of the miniseries-publicity oxygen this summer, but ABC Family harvested surprisingly solid numbers for its six-hour limited series "Fallen."

"Fallen," starring Paul Wesley as a charismatic half-angel/half-human creature who takes on the job of saving fallen angels on earth, started as a two-hour movie, which chalked up 2.6 million viewers when ABC Family played it a year ago July.

As a result of the Nielsen success, the network commissioned a pair of additional two-hour movies, and all six hours of "Fallen" took over ABC Family on the weekend of Aug. 3. After a repeat of the 2006 movie on Friday, "Fallen: The Journey" averaged 1.7-million viewers on Saturday, 58% of whom were people 18 to 49. And 48.9% of those 18 to 49s were men, an unusually high number for a network whose demographic sweet spot is young women.

On Sunday, "Fallen: The Destiny" shot back up to 2.3 million viewers, scoring the highest number of the three installments among persons 18 to 49, a total of 1.37 million. Similarly, 47% of the 18-to-49-year-olds were men.
