    Rock set for 'Witch Mountain'

Actor to star in Disney followup

    Johnson

    By Michael Fleming
    Variety
    August 28, 2007

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will star in a followup to "Witch Mountain" for Walt Disney Pictures. Andy Fickman is directing, and the studio will begin production in March.

Johnson, who just teamed with Fickman in the Disney family comedy "The Game Plan," is in negotiations to play a Las Vegas cab driver who picks up a pair of siblings with magical powers. The plot advances the storyline from the original "Escape to Witch Mountain," which Disney released in 1975.

Andrew Gunn produces through his Gunn Films shingle, and Ann Marie Sanderlin is exec producer. Matt Lopez wrote the most recent draft.

Johnson, who most recently starred in the drama "Gridiron Gang," stars next summer alongside Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway in "Get Smart" for Warner Bros. He's repped by UTA.

    Well, there goes that movie.
I don't see it making more money than DOOM did...

So, does anyone know how much Vince McMahon's producer fee is going to be? Because if you didn't know, he gets paid for EVERY movie The Rock is in.

Why is this man considered a movie star? He certainly isn't any kind of box office draw...

He played a minor comedic role in the sequel to "Get Shorty". It was hilarious. Best acting ever. He was the only good thing in the movie.

Another remake? When are they going to remake the Black Hole, a good movie that would be great with today's special effects.

Well, i dug up an old video with the original, and watched it last night - is it just me, or did the movie seem better when I was younger? I will probably pass on this movie now...

                          Dear Variety,

A sequel to "Escape to Witch Mountain" was made 30 years ago. It was called "Return From Witch Mountain". Tell your fact-checker to put down the crack pipe.

                          Sincerely,

                          The Castaway Family

Today's special effects wouldn't mean a thing without the artistry of Peter and Harrison Ellenshaw.
