  • Six Flags Magic Mountain get's new President

Six Flags Magic Mountain President Del Holland has been replaced by Jay Thomas, who until recently was the President of Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

The change was apparently made in August.

Let's hope this means great things for the Southern California Coaster park.

Wow, Del was with the park forever. Hopefully this means a big shakeup for the park in a good way

This could be the best news the park has seen in years.

i do not follow anything that has to due with six flags so i have a question for those that do.

Is it going to be better for Magic Mountain just because of the change or because this new guy has a better record in his previous park?

Just because of the change. Del Holland, to put it in "Disney" terms was pretty much considered the Paul Pressler of Magic Mountain (but probably worse). He didn't seem to care about the park AT ALL, you'd NEVER see him in the parks, he was just ... there.

From what I've heard of this new guy he was always around SFKK and is very visible. Not to say SFKK didn't have it's problems either, but sometimes change is good no matter what.

I can't remember how long Del was with the park, but it was alot of years. Maybe somebody else knows the exact numbers.

Re: Six Flags Magic Mountain get's new President

Typically, a new leader gets more lattitude in making changes than an entrenched one. If a company puts someone new in place, they tend to give more weight to what the new guy asks for (right or wrong, it's a common practice).

That gives him more flexibility in getting in and approaching things with a fresh eye (in addition to HAVING a fresh eye).

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is the park that had the big accident this summer where a teenage girl had both her feet severed while she was on a ride. http://www.wave3.com/global/Story.asp?s=6693499

Yes, let's hope the new president can get a "leg up" on the competition.
