Just wondering how many people have been to the World of Disney New York City and how many have met the characters on the third floor?

            Good morning, son
            In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
            It was pain
            Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

We have only been there once since we live in Pittsburgh, but it is a wonderful store. We went up to the third floor minutes before they were closing and ran into Ariel (with legs!) and Prince Eric. What a treat. They were both great as their respected character. Had a great time with them, basically we had them all to ourselves since they closed the door behind us.

I only managed about 20 minutes in there, because we were rushed for time.
I'm returning in April, like someone said above, do they release schedules for character appearances say, a week in advance?

Re: World of Disney New York City

I've only been there once, on a Tuesday, late afternoon---we had to catch the LIRR, so we were pressed and not planning on visiting with the characters.

But Goliath, from JoJo's circus was totally bored. Not a single kid in the place. I happened to be exploring, heading towards the escalator when the feline pounced on me. It was awesome. No, we didn't have a camera--our visit was too quick. But, as usual, a character made this guy feel really special, even if I don't watch preschool television. He was all huggy and silly--perfect end to the day.

                    You gotta go!

                    Peace,

Re: World of Disney New York City

I am a big fan of the WoD in NYC. A place for me to grab some WDW pins and such, even some LE ones that are released! It has a GORGEOUS Disney Gallery, and great toy selection, and even a Mr. Potato Head station. The only down side I have seen is that the adult male clothing items seem to be decreasing here. When it first reopened, they had a great selection of NYC specific polo shirts, button down, etc. Now they only carry a few Disney on Broadway shirts and a few NYC T shirts, nothing more. I would love to see the return of polo and dressier shirts there.

As for characters? They are there almost everyday, and change monthly. I have seen Jack Sparrow, Tigger and Pooh, and Pluto and Minnie (dressed as the Statue of Liberty). Also, once a day Cinderella does her own meet and greets.

A definite must every time I visit the city!

I visited there in early July and posted a trip report in this section with some pictures. You can call a few days in advance and they will let you know which characters will be there and at what time.

Re: World of Disney New York City

I've been to this store this past July. We met Belle and Cinderella, and since Beauty and the Beast was clsoing it's Broadway run, they were asking people in line Disney trivia questions and rewarding right answers with Broadway Beauty and the Beast posters, pencils, etc.

The store is great. They have a new New York souvenirs that are Disney-fied, great Disney merchandise, and a beautiful gallery on the third floor!

Yes, I think I've visited it every time I went there. That and Build a Bear! The characters for me were a MUST so I have met the characters yoyo mentioned above, but never Cindy as we didn't seem to ever time it right or plan on doing so either. (Her set is usually at 4p.) There is a TR around here somewhere from my first visit to NYC with the characters and such.

I have enjoyed my visits at WOD and I like how they do fun events with the Broadway cast book singings and meet-and-greets/performances like they recently did with Miley Cyrus.

She was there when I first went to NYC in July of 2006 and I seemed to just miss her when I was there in June. They were promoting her being there for the 4th of July timeframe. Peter Pan characters were there in March when the movie was re-released and Sparrow in May with Pirates 3. I have a feeling the characters tend to follow closely with marketing.
