Did you all see this new movie coming out? It's a total spoof of Snow White. Are they kidding? The preveiws look horrible, how can they do something like this? I hope it flops at the box office, seriously. You don't screw with a storyline like snow white, or any classic disney movie. I am infuriated by this.

Meh. Snow White is not an exclusively Disney story.

Move to Entertainment - movies, please.

      Seconded, and adding:

Ten Things I Hate About You, She's The Man, Clueless... "updating" classic stories is practically a hallmark of Teen Cinema. It's not the first time it's been done, and it certainly won't be the last.

The movie looks meh, but I love Amanda Bynes. I just want to know why she's so orange in the previews. She's like an oompa loompa! Why?

This isn't the first time that Hollywood has trimmed and cut classic Disney animated movies to tween high school melodramas, and it certainly will not be the last.

I personally find it disturbing and am not attracted to these movies, but regardless of what I say, it is true that these movies make money.

LOL I think it looks really cute!!!
              Good morning, son
              In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
              It was pain
              Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I love Amanda Bynes and give her my support whenever I can. She is now 22 I believe and never got herself into trouble and into the press, unlike so many teen stars. You go Girlfriend!

Besides, like sediment said, Snow White is not a Disney creation. They just made the best version and now everyone thinks they invented her.

Snow White is NOT Disney's. In fact, the first Disney animated movie that was 100% original was The Lion King. EVERY Disney Animated movie up to that point was a re-telling of sorts of an already existing story.

Which again, makes me wonder why people are so against Pixar since the stories/characters from all of their movies have been original.

But that's another conversation for another thread.

I believe the original title was Sydney White and the Seven Dorks.

But yeah, the story Snow White isn't really exclusively Disney, but of course that particular version that everyone knows and loves is.

I do too. I have to wait for the DVD because 1. There's no way in hell I will be able to drag Mr. LL to the movie and 2. It's the not worth the effort to find a babysitter for Lil LL.

Actually no. The Lion King was based off of Hamlet. Just in African animal form.

It was 'based' off of Hamlet, but it didn't use characters from hamlet, names from hamlet, etc like the previous disney movies.

There were always changes to the original stories in the Disney animated movies, but Lion King was the first that was truly original.

Even the pixar movies, although original, have a basic storyline, etc that is derived from somewhere.

I don't think there is any story arc that hasn't been done before.

Her other recent starring role, 'She's The Man' was based on "Twelfth Night'.

I still highly disagree. It's almost the exact same in it's storyline, but with different names given to the characters, it's still the same thing and only original in the fact that they'd added animals and music. That's like saying that Snow White was somehow truly original just because they gave the dwarves names, or Cinderella was because they'd given names to the stepsisters and more backstory to the Prince and his father. Just because you add your own details, doesn't make it somehow "truly original".
