KB Home, the No. 5 U.S. home builder, said Wednesday that it would begin to offer homes customized with Disney characters. Starting next year, buyers will be able to specify flooring, window coverings and lighting inspired by such Disney properties as Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and Pirates of the Caribbean. "Almost 60% of KB Home home buyers are families with children," said Wendy Marlett, senior vp sales and marketing at KB Home, which is grappling with the worst U.S. housing market in several years. Disney shares closed Wednesday up 1.3% to $34.52, while shares of KB Homes dropped 4% to $24.09, a 52-week low.

Of all the major homebuilders in the US, I'm not surprised that KB is the builder that partnered with Disney. But what a creative idea to lure just a few more buyers into their sales offices instead of builders with better reputations for quality.
