Why do we get only one DVD for Ratatouille?

I do not understand. Even if the movie did not make as much money in the US as other Pixar movies, I do not understand why we are not getting a 2 DVD Special edition. And for that matter, why didn't we get 2 DVD for Cars??? Seriously? They still made over 200 million. Isn't is successful enough? I am really confused. Plus, what infuriates me is the fact that you can find such edition in France! Yep, Cars had one (I bought it) and Ratatouille will have one. So what is the problem?

What I am suspecting is that Disney is milking the cow. They will wait and wait after the initial release and then, in two years, we will see Special Edition coming up probably on Blu-Ray. I think it is not fair.

Am I the only one who is not happy with this?

Sorry for the rant but I really loved Ratatouille and I think that it deserves better (and Cars as well for that matter).

I think that both disney and pixar are focusing more on the blu-ray market now, it seems to be the new thing.

Actually, they will wait exactly ten years. Then there will be a two-disc edition. I'd be willing to place a wager on it.

Ratatouille didn't do so well in the states as Disney would have hoped. They did better overseas, but...I think it was the Pixar that did the worst in the US.

Go to Target... they have a bonus 2nd disc of features and behind the scenes. (yah, i agree it's annoying but I'll have to get mine at target).

A new 2 disc edition of Pixars CARS is in the works for the states and in a couple years the same will be available for Ratatouille

I'm buying my version there too and I'll be buying another for my niece at Best Buy so I can take advantage of their "Pre-Order PotC3 and get $5 off instantly for any other Disney DVD". I did the same thing when I bought the Jungle Book and they had the $5 off instantly for pre-ordering Ratatouille. It is annoying that they aren't offering a 2-Disc DVD set but I'm also annoyed that no major store is offering any cool freebies like how Best Buy did with the Jungle Book. They gave out cute little plushies of Baloo and King Louie. I would have loved to have little plushies of Remy and Emile to have at my desk at work since this is my favorite Pixar film so far. The only stuffed animal I have found of Remy is the big one I have in my car's cup holder.

Actually i believe either Walmart or Kmart is giving away a jar with Remy inside (similiar to the one used in the movie when he was going to be dumped in the river) with the purchase of the movie. The movie will also be 19.99

Found it. It's at K-Mart but it's a bank. Wonder if it's Remy inside the bank and the money just collects in the jar with him in it? Wal-Mart is giving away a 2-disc set but the second disc is of Emeril the chef.

I hate these stupid store-specific exclusives, really.... it is obnoxious as a consumer to have to do fifteen minutes of research to see where to get specific editions and extras on a DVD.

I'll be getting the bluray version so I guess I don't get an extra disc, but I'm still mega-confused since the extra Target disc isn't the same thing as the extas on the Bluray. ARGH. I mean, it isn't like I personally buy the movie for the extras (once I watch em, I almost never look at them again) but it would be nice to see. The movie will look gorgeous tho!!!

I agree. Same thing happened with CARS where Target had a bonus disc but I bought it from Wal-Mart already (and opened)... and by then it's like... uh... what do i do?

Pixar needs to give us the extras they did in the beginning. The fans love it! Why deprive us of it???

all you have to do is look at Lilo & Stitch. A movie that was very popular and was supposed to get a 2-disc edition shortly after the current one came out, but it was shelved. We'll eventually get the 2-disc editions for both Lilo & Stitch and Ratatouille as well as all the other recent Disney and Pixar films. It's all about being able to make you buy a movie you own all over again.

Me too! It's right up there with Sleeping Beauty, Lilo & Stitch, and now Ratatouille. I've always enjoyed the Pixar films but never had a favorite and now I do!

Just got Ratatouille from Target for $15.99. The bonus disc is FINALLY in a tiny sleeve packed onto the basic dvd. I dislike the way wal-mart includes a bonus disc in its own clamcase.

The contents of the bonus disc:

-Character Profiles (brad bird talks about each character while you see sketches and animation tests)

-Progression Reel: Rapids (from storyboards to final film... a look at how the film changes through production)

-Deleted Scene: heist / fantasy (scene using storyboards to show how remy is different from his rat family

-Remy's Incredible But Edible (series of promos for the book(?) and show on disney channel)

-Ratatouille Around the World (series of different trailers in different languages)
