    NOT-SO-SMALL WORLD
Just ask the "fluffies".... they can tell you the truth, and it isn't what the Disney spokesperson claimed...

As I understand it, this is the first time MiceAge has been mentioned in the New York Times, so congrats to Al Lutz and everyone else at MiceAge for the mention.

It would help if the queue for small world was one long treadmill and in order to keep your spot in line you have to run. That'd get those boats through the flume more quickly.

I remember people screaming at the CMs from the dock because they were sending out boats half empty....if they could only explain the fact that the ballast in the boat was way past the operational level.
          Hello everyone!

Related story at The Huffington Post...

Well, visitors for the next 10 months or so won't be able to have that pleasure. The ride, which has remained virtually unchanged since it's construction in 1964, has been closed for renovation. Not because it needs to be hipper or cooler. It needs a massive overhaul because overweight and obese Americans have killed it. When the ride was originally installed the flume and boats were built to accommodate average-sized Americans and in the intervening 40+ years, the average-sized American has ballooned in weight, causing the boats to bottom out and stop the entire works until Disney employees can help the overweight offenders off the boats and out the emergency exits. The boats and the ride have been in faithful service with no changes until now and America's expanding waistline is the culprit. (It's reported that the drop in Pirates of the Caribbean has the same problem, but it's not as frequent as the Small World stoppages and I could find no evidence of that ride being further revamped any time soon.)

Is the ride closed now? I don't think that the huffington post statement is correct. Or is it? I thought it would go down for rehab in January, as stated in the first article.

No, "iaswh" opened up yesterday for the Holiday season and should close in late January (around the time Haunted Mansion reopens), then it closes for the major remodel/repairs, and is expected to reopen around a year from now (the start of the Christmas season, 2008), but of course, construction problems could delay the reopening.
