    LOS ANGELES, CA UNITED STATES

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(R) is thrilled that Miley Cyrus, star of hit Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana, takes on an inspiring role as video host for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Math-A-Thon program. In the video, dubbed Math-A-Thon Live, Miley encourages students to get excited about math, shows students how they use math in their everyday lives and how, even at a very young age, they can help other kids.

"One of the main reasons my family and I support St. Jude is because there is always something you can do for someone else," said Cyrus. "It costs more than $1.2 million a day to run St. Jude so every penny counts. What's really cool about St. Jude is that it doesn't matter about things like race, religion or a family's inability to pay. They are really here to help the kids and that is what is really important. It is great to be able to encourage kids to learn and help other kids at the same time."

Students at participating schools across the country will be treated to the high-energy video hosted by Singer, Songwriter, Actress Miley Cyrus and featuring a performance of her new song "Right Here." Miley is the youngest artist in recording history to have two #1 albums in less than one year. Her recent release Hannah Montana 2 / Meet Miley Cyrus has shipped double platinum. Miley's "Best of Both Worlds" 54-date concert tour launched October 18 in St. Louis and is sold out in arenas across the country.

Math-A-Thon is one of St. Jude's most successful fundraising campaigns and one of America's largest education based fundraisers, now in its 29th year in schools nationwide. The program offers a curriculum supplement in which participating students obtain sponsorships from family and friends, work the math problems in either a printed Funbook or CD-ROM and then collect pledges from their sponsors. Last year alone Math-A-Thon raised more than $22 million and is expected to raise more than $25 million this school year.
