  • Live Action Re-make of Black Cauldron

ORDDU: Greetings to all you MiceChat ducklings out there. Today my sisters and I would like to share with you a rumor that's been bubbling and boiling inside the Disney cauldrons--and which is already being discussed on OTHER Disney web-footed sites and we didn't what MiceChat to be left out.

ORWEN: The rumor is that Disney is seriously looking into the idea of remaking our very own movie--which gave us our start--The Black Cauldron!!

ORDDU: Only the working title is called The Chronicles of Prydain. Who knows what actual title they might end up with?

ORGOCH: Well, we would if'n we wanted ta look inta the future by usin' the ol' crystal!

ORWEN: But we wanna' be surprised along with the rest of you!

ORDDU: Many fans have expressed--in the past--that they would love to see a live-action version of the many activities from the Land of Prydain. It finally looks as though these dreams are to be fulfilled. Of course we don't yet know which of the five books in the series they might end up making into a movie. They could do a sequel which would advance the animated version forward.

ORWEN: The new version would be heavy on special effects--

ORGOCH: --an' yer the expert on bein' heavy, that's fer sure!!

ORDDU: The point IS, we're keeping our fingers crossed for a second chance to see a story from the Chronicles of Prydain to become a true success. I only hope that whomever they get to play ME is someone classy--like Julia Roberts.

ORGOCH: I was thinkin' more along the lines of a beat up lookin' Shirley McLain...

ORWEN: Too bad there isn't anybody ugly or mean enough to play YOU, old biddy!

ORDDU: (sigh) Taran, Eilonwy, Gurgi, Flewdder Flam and even the Horned King--along with us--are so excited over the many possibilities....

That would be awesome, because I have loved those books since I was about 9. Seriously awesome news man. I hope they do it!

Re: Live Action Re-make of Black Cauldron

Now this would have possibilities. The animated version fell
short of what it should have been, but with a live action version
and cgi effects, AND a good script ~ it could bring new life to
      these characters.

We know you 3 witches have kept your name in the
p.r. machine, and have even given them quite the positive spin
      over the last several years!

And we know Disney is undoubtedly looking for the next
fantasy realm type picture. "The Black Cauldron" hasn't
      been given it's due.
Critter Country's a mess ev'r since the Country Bears were kicked out. Ya can't cover pooh with honey and 'spect people ta like it.

That's wonderful. But I like the animated version better.

If we can get a Horned King in the parks from this, I'm all for it

Re: Live Action Re-make of Black Cauldron

ORWEN: Oh, no!! You wouldn't want to have to be terrorized by that horrible Horned King! If you let him loose inside a Disney theme park, you'll surely regret it--unless you're into torture!

ORDDU: A lot of you ducklings out there may not realize this, but the Horned King was but one of several different villains to come from the Land of Prydain. There was even another witch--name Achren--who had been holding Princess Eilonwy somewhat captive before Taran encountered her within Spiral Castle in the first book of the series.

ORWEN: The Horned King was actually one of the many minions who worked for the worst villain of all--Arawn, the dreaded Lord of Annuvin--who was so evil he never even showed himself. He just worked his evil in secret.

ORGOCH: I'd be purdy careful 'bout unleashin' any a those danged goomers loose on a movie screen, if'n I was in charge a this whole thing!

If they could do the book correctly this time, I'm all for it. But don't slaughter it and piece together completely different stories like the animated version did.

Great books, this would be a great idea.

I really hope it will happen.

I love this idea. These are books I actually KNEW about! (never heard of narnia for some reason).

I would prefer they did it right with animation, but I'll take good live action versions too.

ORDDU: Thank you for all the support, ducklings. If the Chronicles of Prydain ever ARE made into a live action version, my sisters and I would like to accompany each and every one of you to the movie theatres for the purpose of seeing it with you all. (I would like to be the witch who sits next to Coheteboy, by the way.) Is it a deal???

Re: Live Action Re-make of Black Cauldron

                        Lol.

I agree that this time they must be done correctly. They can put the first two books together as long as they do it correctly and chronologically. The animated version was so hacked and slashed and pieced back together that it barely resembled the plot any more. Though the animation was some of the most amazing they had ever done. To this day some of the coolest effects animation is in that movie.
