  • Chicago the Musical - LA

I went to see the matinee performance of Chicago today at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, and it was awesome!!!! This is the second time I've seen the stage version, and I must say that this performance was better. Patti LaBelle played Mama Morton and that was worth the price of the ticket alone!!! I must say that the stage version is A LOT more raunchier than the movie (needless to say I loved it!!). It plays through next weekend so if you get a chance, go see it. Also, Evita will be playing at the Pantages for a few weeks in March, and I plan on seeing that too.

Anyone else in the cast of note? I an not going to see it without a good cast - and I haven't seen anything listed.

Wayne Brady was supposed to play Billy Flynn, but I heard he dropped out for whatever reason. The actor who plays Billy is Gregory Harrison, and he looks really familiar, but the only thing that I recognized to his credit was Air Bud... Roxie and Velma are played by actresses who played their respective roles on Broadway, and weren't too bad. But Patti LaBelle does take the highlight of this cast.

Well, that's too bad. The Pantages has been really hit or miss. I just can't justify shelling out the cash for something that will not be worth it in the long run.
