This is equivalent to awarding George W. Bush the Congressional Medal of Honor for valor in combat.

Must be running out of names, huh? Well, he is responsible for the creation of DreamWorks and a number of other competing animation studios, and a number of other things that ruined one of the greatest names in entertainment history.

But, am I the only one a bit surprised by the guest list, why is Roy Disney or Steve Jobs or John Lasseter (speaking of which, does he have a star, he's certainly much more deserving than Eisner) there to congratulate him?

Uhm, ever since Britney Spears got a star.. the adding of stars to the walk has all the validity of a paper napkin tumbling across a city landfill.

I think it's deserved. He did do good things for the company once upon a time. Other studio exec's who have accomplished less have stars there.

                  Doesn't mean much these days.
Criteria for Getting a Star on the Walk of Fame
The criteria for getting a star on the Walk of Fame are fairly simple. For consideration, a nominee must:

                  1. Have a record of professional achievement within the nominated field.
                  2. Have worked in the entertainment industry for a minimum of five years.
                  3. Have made contributions to the community, typically through charitable activities.

The recipient must also agree to attend the dedication ceremony. In addition, a sponsorship fee of $25,000 must be paid. Non-human and fictional characters are also eligible for stars on the Walk of Fame. Kermit the Frog, Big Bird, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie all have stars.
                  Mike

Even though he did some outlandish things, Michael Eisner does indeed deserve it. For all the bad their was a lot of good.
