    ABC Family unveils new schedule

Channel bringing back 'Greek,' 'Kyle XY'

    By Michael Schneider
    Variety
    May 1, 2008

ABC Family is lining up a busy summer sked, with two new dramas, an event miniseries and two original movies on tap.

Channel also announced plans Thursday to bring back vet series "Lincoln Heights" and "Greek" in the fall, followed by "Kyle XY" in January. Also on the books for early 2009: The cabler's first two original half-hour comedies.

This summer, ABC Family, which targets females 12-34 - the so-called "millennial" demo - will bow "The Middleman," from Javier Grillo-Marxauch, on Monday, June 16. The net's other new entry, the Brenda Hampton-penned "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," will follow on Tuesday, July 1.

Launch pattern continues ABC Family's strategy of bowing new skeins in the summertime, where the channel has found great success in premiering hits such as "Kyle XY" and "Greek."

"We put a lot of effort into summer, and it's the perfect time to launch our biggest shows," said ABC Family prexy Paul Lee. "We're really proud that every year we've been able to take it up to another level. That's why we've had four or five years of record growth."
