New Signature Rule In Effect - Maximum Signature Display of 250px

Due to overwhelming feedback, we have implemented a new signature size display.

If a signature is over 250 pixels tall, it will automatically add scroll bars. Note that signatures can still be as long as necessary, but you will have to scroll to view them.

That is good news. I'll try turning them back on.

Is it safe to say, that if ones sig has a scroll bar, they might want to consider making it smaller? Personally, I can't imagine I would ever bother to scroll through someone's signature.

Hey. I had a thought. When I went in there to delete my one line of text that I was over the limit, I noticed that there is nothing there to indicate, when editing your signature, if you're over the limit. It's like a little guessing game to figure out how much you need to remove to make it under the limit.

Maybe you could work on something to aid people in editing their signature to the new mandate?

This is wierd stuff going on with the spacing though. For instance, looking at my signature... its taller then it needs to be. Your's as well MM, and darkbeer's too. yet, if you look at some like Bruce Bergman (who has no links or images), his is properly sized to his content.

The preview on the edit signature page is properly sized - but in the thread view its larger then preview

I have signature's turned off, and I don't normally include one in my own posts. I find them distracting when I just want to read the content of the thread.

I understand that a MiceChatter's signature is a part of their personality here. I do view them on occasion, when I want to learn more background on a particular MiceChatter.

nevermind... I see the reason now... the 'minimum' size of a post is taken up in the signature area. A short post will have the extra room after the user's sig... where a longer post will fill out the area

Thank you for handling this in an intelligent manner. Even though I don't object to big sigs, I like it. It would have been easy to make a policy limiting sig lengths, but doing what you did instead will retain the flexibility some users may want while keeping clutter down. In fact not a policy at all, just a change in how posts display.

Also, it's good to see users aware of the sig-buster in their user-CP.
