  • Question about reputation comments

Before anyone freaks out and starts warning me not to discuss reputation, this is not a discussion of any specific instance of reputation, but about the process as it works in the forum.

If you have a notification that you received a reputation comment, and you go to look at it, but you can't see any new reputation comments, what does that mean? Can reputation be "taken back" or does it just mean that reputation was given, but there was no accompanying comment?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Question about reputation comments

There are apparently still a few bugs in the rep system. When we turned the viewing of rep back on, the way Monorail Man set it up was that you could see your positive rep, but any neg rep you got would be unavailable for viewing until it expired... this was to avoid retaliatory rep.

However, I have had a couple of people question me about they had gotten notice of rep, but they could not see it. In my investigations into those specific instances, what I saw was that they had gotten good rep, but for some reason they were unable to see it. I don't know if this is an isolated occurrence, if it only happens randomly or what. I've only had a couple of people tell me this has happened to them, so I'm uncertain as to the extent of the glitch.

I've actually had this happen several times now. So, i'm operating under the assumption that everyone loves me. No one would give me red, right?

        Re: Question about reputation comments

The only real time I give out Negative Rep is when I find one of those massive posts trying to sell cell phones and related items.

Negative Rep for SPAM, then report the post to the moderators.

Other than that, I think the only other time I have issued Negative Rep is for personal attacks, which is clearly against MiceChat rules.

OK, so it might be neg rep, but then again it might not be. And if it is neg rep, then I don't know what it's for, or who gave it. But it might be positive rep, again for something I don't know, and by someone I don't know.

          All righty, then.

          And this helps us how....?

It helps us by alerting MM to the problem so that when he gets a chance he can try to fix it. This is a bug he was already aware of.
            Good morning, son
            In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
            It was pain
            Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Ah ok. So it IS a bug. Fair enough.
