  • You can not give reputation to this post

I tried to give rep to a post in the Break Room forum, and got this error message

"Sorry you can not give reputation to this post. Please check the FAQ and try again"

??? Does this mean this forum has rep turned off? The list in the FAQ does not mention this forum.

And searching the FAQ turns up lots of hits that are generic vbulletin stuff that don't apply to Micechat's implementation

I've seen this error message also, in other sections. I don't know the reason for it.

I know that the fun & games lounge is an R free zone, but I wasn't aware of any other spots.
I love my awesome crazy wonderful friends!!

There is no rep in Fun and Games, but I don't know about the Break Room. You can't give rep in a thread that has been locked. And if a poster has been identified as a sock puppet or has been banned, they cannot receive rep. Those are the only other things I can come up.
          A signature should go here.

Thanks, SP. None of the above applies where I was trying, but what's interesting is that I have tried again since then and it worked! So that's good. Maybe it was a temporary glitch?

It seems you can't give it in Vintage Photos and Trip Reports forum either.

It would be nice to be able to give rep to people actually contributing to the community...

Maybe the list of forums needs another go-through on the rep or no rep settings..

I've given and received rep points in the Fun and Games lounge... is that supposed to happen?

Re: You can not give reputation to this post

I really don't pay too much attention to the entire rep system at all anymore. I just try and abide by the rules, as much as I can. If I ever run across something that really is against the rules, I would really entertain giving negative rep or I would report the post.

Problem is... they ask you to use the system, and yet you can't in many places one would think you would, and then its all hush hush about it too. Look at how old this thread is.. any changes or clarifications? Nope

This only leaves you the ability to report posts... which normally comes with 'well use the rep system'... which of course brings us back to where we started

I don't like reporting posts... but if the rep system is so crippled, it often leaves you no choice.

hmm.. well as far as i know.. admins are the only one that can fix this issue...
but does it do harm on us?
                      just do what you think...

Re: You can not give reputation to this post

It really does appear that the use of the reputation system is, for most MiceChatters, a thing of the past. I believe, that with the new profile pages, and the visitor messages, positive comments are now left there, instead of using the reputation system.

It seems that the fastest way to get an answer on some issues is to PM a moderator, or an administrator. Threads are often not seen.

I have reported posts, and seen results. I have never given negative rep, I just can't bring myself to do that.
