  • "Go to Last Post" button leads to reload loop

If viewing as a guest, not as a logged-in member...

Clicking on a "Go to Last Post" button in the forum index leads to an endless loop of page reloads if the last post is recent. ("Recent" varies; I've seen it happen with posts that are between one minute and 20 minutes old.)

In such cases, if you click on the thread title and manually navigate to the end of the thread, the Last Post listed in the index isn't there.

Occurs in Firefox and IE, with or without caches flushed before loading the site.

This first appeared after the format change last year (apologies MM, I just now got around to reporting it). :shy:

Update for Monorail Man: the reload loop is still happening. As a guest, clicking on a "go to last post" button listed at the top of the Disneyland Resort forum index, which points to a post timestamped 15 minutes ago, took me to the last page of the thread and into an endless loop of re-loads.

If I load the last page of the thread manually there's no loop, but the post listed in the index isn't there.

I get why it's doing it, the cache on the forum index is newer than the thread cache, so the post being referred to doesn't exist yet on the cache.

I think I might up the guest caching time to be slightly less aggressive on the forum listing page.

          Thanks MM.

Dunno if this mobile Beta issue is related to the cache issue, so I started a separate thread.

Re: "Go to Last Post" button leads to reload loop

Just a heads up that this is still happening.

Example: a couple moments ago (6:20 PM PDT) the top 3 posts in the Disneyland Resort forum index were timestamped 05:13, 05:07 and 05:05.

I clicked on the "Go to Last Post" button on each of them as a guest at 6:20 PDT. The 05:13 and 05:05 posts loaded with no problem; the 05:07 post took me to an endless loop.

UPDATE: Closed browser & flushed cache, then relaunched browser and loaded Disneyland Resort index page as a guest at 6:33 PDT. The top 4 posts were time stamped 05:30, 05:29, 05:29 and 05:27. Clicking on the "Go to Last Post" button, all loaded okay except the third from the top (05:29), which went into an endless loop.

Just a bump, that the issue is still happening.
