How do I put up a picture for my avatar or to add signatures to the bottoms of my posts?

Near the top of the page you will see a tab called "settings."
Click on the word "settings."
A different screen will come up, and on the left hand side, you will see a panel with several options.
This is where you can change your avatar, sig line etc.
