    Forum performance issues

    I've had a lot of problems the last two days with pages completing to draw.

    Today, at least half the time I use the quick reply... I'm getting the notice about leaving the page or staying on the page after hitting submit. I'm doing nothing but waiting for the page to reload, and I'm getting the alert as if I clicked off the page while I still had text in the editing box.

    Site has also been slow at times to edit an existing post, and other things where it's just been real sluggish to complete actions.

    Edit: it seems like EVERY time I use quick post I'm having issues. It acts like you are submitting more than once.

    This time I the 'This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between posts. Please try again in 8 seconds.' error.. all I did was click submit once

    Browser is FF 10.0.2

    Same issues. FF 3.2.67

    The forum overall is just slow, including the above quick reply problems.

      I'm never sure if its me, or my computer or my internet connection... but I've been getting a lot of lag on pages, data base errors, memory errors etc.... I'll have to try to get some screen shots or write down the errors for Monorail Man next time I encounter them but yeah.... I've been getting pretty frustrated myself with pages not loading right.

      I'm using Chrome 17.0.963.56.

        My browser is FF 10.0.2. No issues with the quick edit, just abnormally long load times. Seems to be affecting everyone... as of this moment there are only 625 users online, less than half of normal. My guess is server issues.


        EDIT: Now I'm getting the same issues with Quick Reply as flynnibus.

          I'm getting a lot of issues on my end too. Sometimes my posts would completely vanish. I now have the habit of saving all my text in case it disappears.

              We are aware of the issue and are working on it. Thank you for hanging in there. There are moment of heavy server load which have slowed the site at times. That is being addressed.

              We hope to have things back to normal tomorrow.

                I just assumed it was due to DL being open 24 hours and everyone coming on here to check it out.

                          Today marks the first noticable improvement since my OP I think. It was getting pretty bad and I think it was reflected in the post counts.

                          Seems better today, but still not snappy

                            OMDD coverage and overall news has kept us really busy. We have some agressive guest caching that handles most of the traffic. Our issue right now comes from logged in members, over the next couple of weeks we'll be adding caching to logged in guests as well to help save resources.

                              I don't understand the technical language. I do understand the fact that the administrators at MiceChat do their best always to keep us MiceChatters in the know, and happy.

                                  I've bumped up some of the query caching, and have improved the database backend key caching. Let me know if you continue to see super-slow results.

                                    All is working great, but the "Go to Last Post" buttons are missing from the main index page if you load the page as a guest.

                                        Something weird is happening. On the DL forum, I have to stop the page or it goes into a reloading loop. Have never seen anything like it, so just reporting it.

                                        That's on Win 7 64 bit, but with 32-bit Firefox 3 on it.

                                        [edit: turned out I had some adware toolbar installed. It's gone, and so is my issue, happily enough. ]
