Green stars are part pf the reputation. After a certain amount of points, the little bars become stars.

The green stars corresponds to the amount of rep you have and you get a diamond for every 1000 posts up to 5000.
There is an explanation of the rep points and how many it takes to get a green star in the FAQs.
