Just making a request of the moderators here.

I think it would be helpful to have a page for MiceChat-specific acronyms added to the FAQ section. Maybe also including commonly-used terms (like "101" or "e-stop").

Most of us on the boards know that HISTA = "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience", but there are always new people, and we're obviously very fond of abbreviations. Someone may or may not know right away what EMH refers to, or PAP. It would be fun to have a quick reference page up there somewhere.

BTW, I didn't use HISTA as an example because of the "swimmingly" good replacement thread. Pure coincidence.

Hmmm, here's a few off the top of my head and use on a regular basis.

    IJA Indiana Jones Adventure
    DLR Disneyland Resort
    TOT Tower of Terror
    BTMRR: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
    POD: Parade of Dreams

      Re: acronyms

Just had a thread about this: http://www.micechat.com/forums/showt...ight=shorthand

      Here's what I said then:

Just a note. We discourage the using of shorthand in the title and first post of a thread. It is almost always best if the real name of rides, parks, shows, attractions, etc. are used to set up the thread and title. Then if members use shorthand later in the thread, it will make sense even without needing to consult a shorthand guide.

        Re: acronyms

Even so, I don't really see the down side in adding a page to the FAQ. There will always be people who use acronyms in their titles and first posts, whether you discourage it or not. Plus there are lots of times when users refer to an attraction or event (F!, MSEP, MNSSHP) mid-thread without the OP having referred to them directly.

For what reason do you NOT want to add to the FAQ (and/or add a sticky note)? Just curious.

          Re: acronyms

There's not very many MiceChat-specific acronyms, though....

Off the top of my head, there's only MC, MCG, BBB, DMCA, RYPC, YAGE, and maybe a couple others... Not really enough for a good FAQ.

Thanks! I'm not asking because there's any given acronym that I need to know right now. When one pops up that I don't know, I either ask or do a forum search to figure it out. It just seems like it would be a handy, even educational, resource to have readily available, especially if it elaborated on some of the CM-specific abbreviations.

No one's going to know to look into this thread later if they need help. They would know to look in the FAQ section if it were there.

I guess I really meant disney-specific, as opposed to defining things like LOL or BRB or YAGE (which isn't specific to this board). So I'm including things like HMH or BTMRR, but also including ones like COW.

YAGE isn't? Hmm.. odd. Never hear anybody outside of here ever use that... and I've been on a lot of boards during the course of about 10 years.

Huh. I think you might be right on this one. I stand corrected.

I could have sworn that when I saw the term here I looked it up elsewhere, but I can't find it anywhere.

Woohoo! Not out of the loop as much as I thought I was!

I know we used Yet Another Grand Exit (YAGE) before MiceChat on FabsBoard.....many of us came from that board to this one.

The term YAGE is used by a few, but not many.
