  • Micechat front page

Im not sure why but whenever im on Micechat.com, it tells me im not logged on. So i changed my cookie settings, added micechat on the trust list but it still shows im log off... then i click a forum and it says im log in.

Is this My computer bug or the forum's bug?

I'm not sure Duffy. If you have already logged in, it should show you in the list at the bottom of the site.

But don't worry about it too much at this point. We are making huge database and feature changes on the site right now and some of the little queries like users online, and new post since last log on, may not be functioning well at this time.

If you are still seeing this problem on Wednesday, please let us know again.

This happens to me all the time as well. I delete the cookies and clean my cache several times and it still happens. Eventually, the problem resolves itself somehow.

If you visit the homepage using something other the links in the tab, like say for instance you have http://micechat.com/forums/ saved to your favorites or bookmarked, it's going to show you as logged out. But click on any thread, and you'll still be logged in. It has something to do with the new manner in which threads URLs are created.

I was having the same problem yesterday...I would log in, only to be told I wasn't logged in. But once I hit the "keep me logged in" check box, I was fine.

I'm having the same problem too. Haven't been on much because of this actually. I cleaned out my computer at work recently (cookies, history, etc.) and ever since then, I've had problems with this website. I'll log in, and it'll say thanks for logging in, etc. then go to the main page showing that I'm not logged in. I'll click on a thread and it will work fine, sometimes. Other times it will show the last time I signed in was days ago when I was just on last night and my subscription list is all screwed up. It's still stuck on from when I was on days ago.

That's what I'm suggesting, that it's not really a problem with your computer. But a problem with the way the new site is handling URLs. I've noticed that as you browse, there's still a lot of switching back and forth from the traditional URLs the forums used to use and to the new ones that include the thread name. That's got to be creating all the cookie issues for people.

Incorrect. See, the cookie ONLY stores your login and read/unread info (which is a database query at the load of the thread). However, there can be two different cookies, one for http://micechat.com , and one for http://www.micechat.com .

So if you are having login issues, then here is what you need to do:

                    1. Clear your cookies, and cache. (Do this on a non MiceChat page).
                    2. Visit www.micechat.com, and then login.
                    3. Then you will have a correct cookie.

                    Thanks!

Okay, I've done what you suggested Monorail. Hopefully that solves my problem!
