  • Disney's Dish - Recipes from D23!

The part of the D23 Magazine I liked the best were the recipes I actually subscribe to the Swan and Dolphin recipe of the month e-mail ). I was so excited to see that the new D23 magazine included a nice article and a recipe - from the delicious California Grill to boot

The recipe in the magazine sounded a bit complicated but lucky for us, they have included FOUR recipes on the Web site! They are all here: D23 | Disney.com Recipes

The biggest gem, I think, is Walt's Own Chili . I don't like chili, but I might make this for Jeff sometime.

I think I actually will try the Molton Lava Cakes. I have wanted to make these for awhile and what better recipe to use than a Disney one?

Are any of you thinking about trying the recipes? Let us know if you try one!

What recipe from a Disney restaurant would you like to see featured on the Web site or in the magazine?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

It may be kind of a moot point since all of the recipes are online SOMEwhere... but they have a very nice cookbook (two volumes I think) of Disneyland recipies available in the park...
Anyone up for a Colorado Micechatters meet-up?

I LOVE those books. We bought one while we were in Florida and another at a book store. There is a Disney baking book as well as I recall.

I'm interested to see if Walt's chili is truly one from the vault or if it has been published by the company before.

I LOVE Molten Lava cakes! I may try to make my own...
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".

Walt's Chili recipe is actually in the Cooking with Mickey volume 2 (red and white cover). I have that book and it is actually my favorite cookbooks and it isn't jsut because Mickey is on the cover, the recipes are easy to follow and choices are great. After looking through the one posted above they seem to be very similar, but there are some differences. The book calls for 1/4cup oil the D23 recipe says 1/2cup, the book calls for 1tsp of dried thyme D23 does not, and the book lists pepper as an ingredient D23 doesn't. The book says to simmer the beans with onions for 2 hours but online says 4 hours. I guess we can only wonder...."What would Walt do?"

So I'm guessing they took a chili recipe and called it "Walt's chili.". Because the chili that Walt liked was canned.
