  • IDEA: More D23 Benefits?

What do you think of more benefits for the membership? The kit and magazine are $75 alone, but what else do you think?

I was thinking a discount of Disney park tickets/APs ($15 for reg, $40 for AP)
Also, maybe a special freebie in the mail every once in a while, like a preview DVD/Blu-ray of the newest release or music downloads. We could be guinea pigs! Even sneak peaks of new rides/shows, like World of Color or the new Fantasyland. Also, more events overall and better, less expensive merchandise. Maybe an introductory t-shirt?

I think as a D23 member there should be some kind of perks. they have offered the free Studio archives tour but both times I went to sign up, it was full before I could even log in...A backstage tour at DLR would be cool, you can go preview certain movies at TDA occasionally - As the membership grows I'm sure it will be less exclusive and even more difficult to dish out perks. We got a frameable picture of mickey- a historical patch- a certificate- and the magazine. Maybe some mouse ears that say D23. Dang it! make me feel special!!!

Disney: Hey Disney fans! We've put together this amazing club called D23! For $74, you get 4 issues of this gorgeous and immersive magazine that is sure to blow you away with each issue, a $60 value in and of itself. We're also sending you a personalized certificate, membership card, window decal, and a surprise gift in the form of the biggest lithograph you have ever seen. Also, shipping is free and we will be surprising you with some extra goodies. In addition, we've got some great merchandise that is only available to you guys and we're going to have some once-in-a-lifetime events that you will have the opportunity to sign up for. And if you are planning to come to our D23 Expo, we will give you a discount in the form of buy 3 days, get the 4th free! We've thrown you so much that we aren't actually going to turn a profit on this. It's just a big thank you to you, our devoted fans. :yea:

Mice Chatters: That all sounds great! I'll pay the $74, but in return I also want every area of the company to give me a discount. I want bigger capacity for each event. I want less people at the Expo. I want events where they are not feasible. I want you to charge for some events, but not others. That's not nice enough. That's to expensive. I want all of those. What? Only one per member? I am outraged! I'm not renewing.:judge::mob:

Disney: Wow! Our fans are impossible to please. I guess we better just shut D23 down since it's not making us money and the fans aren't happy with it. We did our best.

      Goofystitch: :bang::crybye:
I'm attempting to watch and review every Disney movie ever made in my blog called The Disney Films. You can also follow me on Twitter for news on upcoming Disney films.

I'd like to see access to more Walt Disney film and music library material. "Song of the South" on DVD and CD along with other unreleased films and shorts - - "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color"/"Disneyland"/"Walt Disney Presents" DVD season sets - - CD Disneyland/Vista LP and singles reissues - - reproduction pencil animation art and model sheets - - reproduction photos from the archives - - reproduction posters and vintage art.

I too would love to see this happen, but things do cost money and if you expect those to happen as freebies, do eexpect membership fees to go up.

What I would like to see happen is
            - the ability to pre-order and receive movies earlier than their inital public release. Imagine being able to get UP on dvd or blu-ray a few weeks early as a d23 member - no discount or anything, just early access.
            - D23 edition merchandise. Say, Disney movies signed by their directors or actors, being sold at limited quantities and a slightly higher premium. Will only be made available to d23 members, will bring d23 a profit and will definitely sell.
            - I like the idea of previews. What if they did D23 preview nights where they preview a new attraction to guests the evening before its initial debut. They could choose to provide guests with a ticket, but since I know that this will serve an issue financially, D23 could talk to TDA and see if they can organize discount tickets since the D23 guests attending won't be there the whole day and will be tied down to one event.
            - I think a T-shirt intro gift is cool and I think it would be a great alternative to the poster. Plus, it gives out "advertisement" points for the club.
            - Less expensive and higher quality don't ever go together. I say, keep the price, but I definitely know the quality of their clothing can be better.
            - Freebie DVD/Blu-ray previews will be really expensive. instead, they should use the advent of the internet to benefit them. They can distribute such media on the cheap on private sites that require member logins and be able to share these sneak peaks (i.e.: those short interviews/making of segments you always get in a movie, or a behind the scenes look at the happenings inside the parks, studios, or imagineering).
            - I think it'd also be a lot of fun if d23 can allow members to submit their content to be published in the magazines (of course, it will have to go through an approval process), but I think it'd be a great way to see where other members are coming from. I would be definitely interested in what people in the UK are thinking about Disney or to see pictures taken from the parks from a guests point of view.
            - Lastly, I would still love to see an official d23 forum.

I don't know how it is out in CA, but here in Florida Disney always has Passholder Preview events for upcoming attractions. Usually a few weeks before the ride is officially open, often immediately before it is soft open, Disney has a day or two where Passholders are given the opportunity to ride the attraction. Extending this invitation to D23 members seems like a great idea. It probably wouldn't even boost attendance that much, as I assume lots of D23 members (at least the ones that are CA/FL residents) are also Passholders.
