On one of the surveys for D23 I said that they should have some of party where people can just drink and be merry. Sounds like this! Wish I could go though.

Sounds great, but I definitely think it should be a ticketed event. Not ticketed as in pay to get in, but just so guests can RSVP and avoid a mickeys of Glendale situation where more people than expected show up.

I'd love to attend, but it is a work night. However, that is probably the best time they could have selected. If they tried to do this on a weekend, it would be overwhelmed.

What a fun idea! Of course this pesky country is in the way of my going ) but this is a great idea.
            Good morning, son
            In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
            It was pain
            Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I start work early that day, so hopefully that means getting out early giving me time to make it there without the traffic rush

This sounds like fun, what a great idea (uh, thanks Coheteboy for the suggestion I guess!). Unfortunately, I'm headed out of town on Wed. or I'd be there for sure.

                  Hope y'all have fun!

Hmmm... each D23 member can bring three guests. My son and I will be at DL on Thursday and would love to stop by the meetup, but we're not D23 members. Would anyone be willing to bring in two guests on their membership?

                    Thanks!

Re: ESPN Zone Mixer May 27, 2010

I ended up going to the event. My brother learned about it from the D23 tweets. I was at first hesitant to go since I started my day at 5am in the morning, but after he said he'd drive, I said okay and made my way down.

Anyways, overall it was an enjoyable event. I stayed for about 30 minutes before heading to the parks. For the most part, everyone seemed like they were sitting down talking amongst their friends and not many people were playing the games. Heck, I've still got some points left on my game card .

Did get to talk with some of the D23 staff on hand which was nice and even more surprisingly, they did get one special guest for the event (I'm sure any disneyland geek would recognize him):

That's right folks - Disneyland President George K. (don't have the spelling of his last name on the top of my head nor know how to pronounce it correctly lol). But it was great to see him - one of the highest people on staff at Disneyland mingling with the most dedicated Disney geeks around. With the noise levels, it was tough to get a good conversation in, but did get to speak a little bit. He asked if I worked in the parks and unfortunately I dont, but did tell him my pursuit for an internship at the studios/properties in Burbank. I then told him that I was quite excited for World of Color, but who isn't...He responded telling me that he saw it last night and we won't be disappointed.

Even though I was there for a short time, I give this event another A+ rating. Though short, it was a good opportunity to get to know the D23 staff and in typical D23 fashion, they always have a surprise up their sleeves which is always awesome. Perhaps for the next event, they could get Company CEO himself, Bob Iger to spend some time with the fans

Thanks for the small update, Ryan! And that's awesome that George was there. It shows a LOT about his character compared to our previous presidents. That's the difference between someone who has worked at Disney from the ground-up and someone hired in from somewhere else. Some don't think it's important but I think it makes all the difference in the [disney] world.

Yeah, i thought it was cool. I was even surprised I didn't see any other secretary people around him to escort him around which I expected, but instead it was just him and Jeffrey (from D23) which was really cool. At first it was definitely intimidating walking up to the president of Disneyland, but after a hi and a handshake, one can really tell that he doesn't carry with him that "authoritative" power that executives like Steve Jobs carry.
